Charge Pipes & Turbo Inlets for BMW F87 M2 N55 3.0L

The factory BMW charge pipes are prone to cracking, as they are made from brittle plastic. Here at Turner, we sell several brands of replacement charge pipes that are typically made from cast aluminum. We recommend upgrading to hard charge pipes even on stock forced induction vehicles to avoid cracking - we've seen cracking occur on high mileage cars running stock power just as frequently as we do with high horsepower builds.

With constant heat cycling, the factory plastic becomes very brittle over time, leading to cracks and boost leaks, and ultimately entire part failures. The OE charge pipe has also been proven to break once under increased boost pressure. Replace the weak OE charge pipe with the Turner N55 Charge pipe for increased air flow, throttle response, and reliability. You can safely and reliably turn up the boost on your N55 once this kit is installed, and not worry about the problematic factory piece. The perfect compliment to the increased airflow form the Turner Motorsport charge pipes is a intercooler. Turner Motorsport has developed an intercooler upgrade that is far superior to the stock unit. Constructed from cast aluminum with a bar and plate design, this intercooler increases both cross sectional area and frontal surface area by 56%. This increase in area has shown a 45 degree decrees in intake temperature resulting in 18 wheel horsepower and 10 lb/ft of torque on its own.

This charge pipe kit from FTP motorsports will not only improve flow over stock but also make a big improvement in the reliability column. The factory charge pipes are made from plastic to reduce weight and manufacturing costs. While this is great for the production line and the sticker price, it doesn't hold up well as the engine ages or in the case of increased power. This set of pipes will not only allow the engine to hold more boost, but they will outlast the stock indefinitely. Aluminum is also a rigid material, meaning it doesn't deform or flex very easily. What this translates to is increased reliability since an aluminum pipe cant flex and decouple itself as plastic does. One more feature to note is the 1/8"NPT fitting in the throttle body pipe. This can be used as the perfect point for a methanol injector or port injection nozzle. Comes with a threaded plug to seal the port until it is needed. The Inlet pipe is made from plastic to reduce weight and manufacturing costs. While this is great for the production line and the sticker price, it doesn't hold up well as the engine ages or in the case of increased power. The FTP inlet pipe replaces the factory hose between the air filter and turbo and will not expand under boost. Replacing the weak plastic stock part with a solid aluminum one like this will ensure proper functionality under higher levels of boost and eliminate wear caused by the heating and cooling of plastic pipes.
