It is a well-known issue on the BMW N54/55 platforms that your serpentine belt can fail for various reasons. When this happens, there is a high chance of the belt getting sucked behind the front damper pulley and then being pushed past the crank seal into your oil pan. From there it can get sucked into the oil pick up causing total engine failure. Even if you do not lose the engine, it is a COSTLY repair to remove the sub-frame and drop the oil pan to remove the belt. The best way to combat this is to watch for oil leaks and keep up on your maintenance. BUT, even with those preventative measures, pre-mature belt failure can occur. This crank seal guard installs over your front crank seal and will keep the belt from being sucked in if a belt failure does occur. This is a cheap way to ensure you do not end up having to replace your motor from oil starvation due to an ingested belt. Vargas' seal is different from those already on market in two major ways. Firstly, it is not offensively priced. Secondly, it is 100% billet with no welds on the tabs to break, no cheap bent thin steel pieces. 100% Billet 6061-T6 aluminum, anodized black for long-term corrosion resistance. Crank Seal Guard includes: One VTT Billet N54/55 Crank Seal Guard Two extended 12.9 Grade bolts, and two stainless washers We highly recommend you install WITH a crank bolt capture at the same time, as you have to remove the damper anyway. Then you will get the benefit of helping eliminate the dreaded spun crank hub and the crank seal issue

BMW has a seemingly endless number of fans of the N54/N55/S55 engines, three straight-six turbo engines that are each capable of 750+ horsepower, but that doesn't mean they were without their faults! BMW's N54 had a notoriously rocky start with reliability due to multiple issues such as fuel injectors failing, turbos failing, serpentine belt failure, crank hubs coming loose, and more... BMW made multiple attempts to fix the issues plaguing the N54, but they could only do so much and the fixes rolled out seemed temporary at best. Following the N54, BMW released their updated N55 and S55 engines, giving many people hope that these engines would address the previous issues. Unfortunately, this was only some-what the case. Crank hubs and crank bolts continued to loosen over time and serpentine belts continued to shred themselves and get pulled into the oil pan through the front main seal. For all three engines, this meant a single failure could effectively turn your engine into an oversized paperweight. Luckily for us, the BMW community is full of skilled enthusiasts who have gladly taken up the task to offer solutions! The first headache to be addressed was the Crank Hub and Bolt. Using a simple plate that fits perfectly over your crank hub's hex-head bolt and mounts up against the damper, the crank bolt is effectively locked in place, preventing it from being able to back out until the plate is fully removed. Next up was the serpentine belt failures. It's not known what exactly causes the serpentine belt to split, but once it does, the pieces hanging off of the belt wrap around and behind the damper. This leads to the belt breaking up into smaller pieces and eventually getting pushed between the crank hub and rear main seal into the oil pan. These small pieces of debris get caught in and block the oil pickup, preventing oil flow and leading to engine failure. To prevent this, multiple aftermarket companies came up with their own versions of Crank Seal Plates. This plate is installed behind the front damper, blocking the opening that allows the serpentine belt to pass between the crank hub and seal, keeping debris out of your oil pan! Also included in this kit are the components to service your front Oil Cooler/Filter Housing gaskets, refresh your drive belt system, and install the aftermarket upgrades. Kit Features and Contents: Vargas Turbo Crank Bolt Capture Vargas Turbo Crank Seal Plate OEM Accessory Belt OEM Belt Tensioner & Idler Pullies Liqui-Moly Longtime High Tech Engine Oil (5w-30) - 7 Liters OEM Hengst Oil Filter OEM Oil Filter/Cooler Housing Gaskets TMS Oil Change Sticker Genuine BMW Full-Strength Coolant - 1 Liter Looking to go even further and upgrade your Crank Hub as well? M7 Speed 4% Oversize Crankshaft Pulley for MINI Cooper

Unlocking Performance

The M7 Speed 4% oversize crankshaft pulley is your ticket to unlocking the hidden potential of your MINI Cooper. This performance-enhancing pulley is designed to add power, acceleration, and overall performance to your beloved MINI. Here's how it does the trick:

Performance Boost:

  • Safely speeds up your supercharger, delivering a significant "low end" boost and torque.
  • The result? Your MINI Cooper takes off with newfound energy and responsiveness.

Lightweight Advantage:

  • Weighing just 13 ounces, this pulley is a remarkable 88.5% lighter than the factory version.
  • Reduced crankshaft rotational mass equals more horsepower, torque, and improved throttle response.

Advanced Design

The M7 Speed 4% Crank Pulley isn't just about performance; it's also a work of art. Crafted with advanced computer modeling and precision CNC machining, it's a blend of form and function:

Materials:

  • Made in the USA from billet 6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum alloy.
  • Features a deep black anodized coating and laser etching for a sleek look.

Precision Machining:

  • Micro V-Belt grooves meet SAE J1459 specifications to minimize belt slippage, especially at maximum boost.

Optimal Fit:

Use it in conjunction with the M7 Speed 16% Supercharger Technology Pulley for peak performance in MINI tuning.

Reliable Performance

From the factory, MINI lacks a positive drive key on the crankshaft snout to drive the lower pulley. Most aftermarket pulleys are slip-fit and rely on the bolt to prevent slippage. The M7 Speed crank pulley is engineered differently:

Interference Fit:

The pulley is interference-fit onto the crankshaft, ensuring zero slippage even at high RPMs.

Features at a Glance:

  • Super Lightweight: Only 13 ounces (0.3 kg)
  • Sheds 6.2 lbs (2.8 kg) compared to stock
  • Achieves perfect balance through a symmetric design and precision machining
  • Includes a high-quality ARP Racing bolt and precision ground flat washer
  • Installation is a breeze

Unleash Your MINI's Potential

Proudly made in the USA, the M7 Speed 4% Oversize Crankshaft Pulley is the upgrade your MINI Cooper deserves. Unleash its hidden power and enjoy a new level of performance, reliability, and overall driving pleasure. Get ready to experience the difference.

The vibration damper in the E70 X5 35d is a common failure item and can fail at as low as 60 thousand miles leaving you stranded. This kit includes everything needed to replace your vibration damper and service your drive belt system! Vibration Dampers (also called Harmonic Dampers or Harmonic Balancers) absorb and remove unwanted vibrations due to torsional twisting of the crankshaft. During cylinder combustions, the crank quickly flexes ever so slightly, resulting in resonance vibrations. These vibrations could lead to damage of the crankshaft or crank bearings over time if not accounted for. The vibration damper helps to eliminate these vibrations, thereby extending the life of your engine's mechanical components and preventing damage. If your vibration damper has failed, you will likely notice excess engine vibrations or shaking that will gradually get worse, especially around certain RPMs where the vibration resonance is most pronounced. This basic kit includes the components necessary to replace your damper with an OEM damper from Corteco, including two belts and the Corteco Vibration Damper pulley. Also included in this kit is a brand-new line of specialty tools from Schwaben designed specifically for this replacement! You will get a Crankshaft Pulley Turner Tool, Stretch Belt Remover/Installer, T50 Alternator Wrench, and a 15/16" Pass-Through Socket, all included to make swapping out your old damper a quick and easy process! Standard tools you might need but are not included: 8mm Drill Bit (to use as flywheel locking pin) 32mm Fan Clutch Wrench - You may want a second 32mm to hold the coupler in place 24mm Box Wrench - For releasing tensioner Torque Wrench - To torque new crankshaft bolts Breaker Bar - to drive the crankshaft bolts further
