BMW Water Pumps

The water pump is a known failure point on most BMWs, new and old. Older model BMWs come from the factory with a mechanical fan that features a plastic impeller. If your BMW still has a water pump with a plastic impeller, you should upgrade to one with a metal impeller to avoid future failure. New BMWs utilize an electric water pump that cost BMW millions of dollars to design - when it is working it is great, unfortunately these fail so regularly that we recommend replacing your electric water pump every 60,000 miles to avoid stranding yourself on the side of the road. We have hand selected the best OE suppliers for replacement water pumps so you don't have to pay the high cost of Genuine BMW. The 6-speed Getrag 420G transmission, found in the European E36 M3 Evolution and E46 M3, has become an increasingly popular swap amongst E36 owners. Its increased strength, longevity, and overdrive sixth gear make it a great choice for both track cars and daily drivers. Unfortunately, many of the components needed to complete this transplant have become hard to source. Despite increased demand from enthusiasts, BMW has blocked the sale of European E36 M3 parts into North America.

Recognizing this issue, we set out to develop a replacement for the unavailable, 420G-specific transmission crossbrace. Our initial investigation revealed that the factory cast aluminum construction was failure-prone, so durable 5GA 1018 steel was chosen to provide a lasting upgrade. The Turner Motorsport Heavy-Duty Transmission Crossmember is finished in a brilliant silver powder coat to resist corrosion and maximize appearance. Despite being much stronger than the factory crossmember, our design is dimensionally identical, ensuring a perfect fit with your six-speed swap.

If your water pump is starting to fail, you may notice coolant leaks, or even hear a whining noise coming from under the hood. If you think your water pump is starting to fail, replace it as soon as you can. The main downside to an electric water pump is you may also notice nothing - nothing but overheating! Keep your eyes peeled for warning signs it may be time to replace your water pump. N54 and N55 engines are prone to water pump failure - replace every 60,000 miles. Comes with electric water pump and installation hardware. Aluminum mounting bolts are one time use. Replace every time the water pump is removed.
