Control arm bushings play a key role in connecting the wheels to the chassis of the vehicle. Tasked with keeping suspension geometry in check while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber bushings were engineered to provide a balance of comfort and control. As a factory bushing ages, it becomes brittle and begins to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play in the suspension joint. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk forward after the car comes to a stop and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushing with a full polyurethane unit or using a bushing insert, this play is eliminated since the suspension joint is being supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car? Powerflex Black Series bushings are the ultimate in track and race bushings. Featuring 95A durometer polyurethane, Black Series bushings are 25% stiffer than street bushings. Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved steering feel, turn in, more responsive handling and overall improved chassis composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings.

Poweflex is a leading manufacturer of aftermarket suspension bushings. Using state of the art design and manufacturing, all replacement bushings are engineered to out-perform and out-last the ones that came in the car. Each line of bushings is meticulously tested and then re-tested to ensure perfect fitment and enduring quality through the life of the vehicle. A full lifetime warranty backs every one of their products and demonstrates the level of confidence and commitment Powerflex has to their customers.

The Powerflex Black Series Camber Adjustable Front Control Arm Front Bushings for the BMW F48/F49 X1 and F39 X2 are designed to provide a significant upgrade for drivers seeking maximum performance from their suspension setup. These bushings are part of the Powerflex Black Series, which is specifically engineered for track and competition use, offering increased precision and adjustability for aggressive driving scenarios.

Key Features of Powerflex Black Series Camber Adjustable Front Control Arm Bushings:

  • High-Performance Polyurethane Construction:

    • The Black Series bushings are made from motorsport-grade polyurethane, which is much stiffer than standard bushings. This reduces deflection and flex under load, providing greater stability and handling precision. Polyurethane is also far more durable than rubber, ensuring longevity under harsh driving conditions.
  • Camber Adjustment Capability:

    • The main advantage of these bushings is the ability to adjust camber. By fine-tuning the camber angle, you can achieve improved front-end grip, better tire wear, and enhanced cornering performance. Camber adjustment is particularly useful for track driving, autocross, or aggressive street setups where precise alignment can lead to sharper handling.
  • Increased Handling Precision:

    • The stiffer bushings allow for better control over suspension geometry, reducing unwanted movement in the front control arms. This results in more predictable and responsive steering, especially during high-speed cornering or under heavy braking, which is essential for performance-oriented drivers.
  • Reduced Deflection:

    • By reducing flex in the control arms, the bushings ensure that the suspension remains stable, keeping the wheels in optimal alignment even under extreme conditions. This minimizes body roll and keeps the front end planted, providing sharper handling dynamics and improved overall control.
  • Durability for Track and Competition Use:

    • The Black Series is specifically tailored for motorsport and track use. These bushings are designed to withstand extreme forces and temperatures, ensuring that they remain effective even after prolonged, high-stress usage. They are ideal for those who demand the highest performance from their suspension components.
  • Optimized for Aggressive Driving:

    • These bushings are much firmer than Powerflex’s road-focused options, making them ideal for dedicated track cars or vehicles used in competitive driving environments. While this may result in a slight increase in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), the performance gains are substantial for those prioritizing handling precision.

Installation Considerations:

  • Direct Fit Replacement:
    • The bushings are designed as a direct replacement for the OEM rubber bushings in the front control arms of the BMW F48/F49 X1 and F39 X2. Installation requires the removal of the factory bushings, and a proper alignment is necessary afterward to fully take advantage of the camber adjustment.
  • Professional Installation Recommended:
    • Due to the complexity of adjusting camber and the precision needed for optimal setup, professional installation is recommended, especially for drivers looking to achieve specific alignment settings for performance use.

Applications:

  • BMW F48/F49 X1 (RWD and xDrive)
  • BMW F39 X2 (RWD and xDrive)

Sway bars transmit cornering forces from the outside wheels to the inside wheels, helping to keep the vehicle flat during cornering. This, in turn, reduces body roll and improves the driver's cornering confidence. OEM rubber sway bar bushings are designed with comfort in mind, allowing the sway bar to articulate while permitting additional movement, leading to less-than-ideal bar retention and causes unnecessary body roll.

Powerflex polyurethane sway bar bushings are firmer than factory rubber bushings, reducing body roll and keeping sway bars in check. Polyurethane bushings won't slop around like OEM bushings, allowing sway bars to function at their fullest potential.
