It's no secret that N55 BMW turbo motors can suffer from oil control problems causing oil to blow through and coat the intercooler and charge piping, gunking up intake valves and the VANOS system, lowering the effective octane, and generally degrading engine performance. The higher your boost levels the more apparent these problems become. The solution to this problem has finally arrived. The BMS oil catch can. While there are other catch cans on the market they all fall short in various areas. Some are mounted on the hot/turbo side of the motor preventing proper vapor condensation. Others utilize hoses that are too small and runs that are too long to allow proper PCV ventilation causing internal motor/ring sealing issues. Some have insufficient or no internal baffle system while others have internal baffles systems that are too restrictive. Some even bypass the PCV system all together venting crankcase gas and odor to the atmosphere. Most are simply repackaged oil catch cans from smaller / lower power motors shoehorned into place in the turbo BMW engine bay. To solve these problems BMS designed their oil catch can kit from the ground up specifically for the turbo BMW application. It features 100% CNC machining with zero welding for a precision fit and long life. The can itself is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle. The hoses exceed the OEM PCV piping in diameter and that flow rate is maintained throughout the entire oil catch can ensuring no excessive crankcase pressure buildup. The BMS OCC retains the factory fully closed loop PCV operation preventing any PCV vapor from leaking to the atmosphere. The mounting locations are selected to minimize the line length, allow more efficient operation, and retain a stealth look. The newly updated R55 through R59 Oil Catch Can kit for MINIs equipped with the N16 or N18 engine comes with a "designed-to-fit" stainless steel bracket, mounting hardware, and pre-assembled hoses. Installation is super easy... no drilling and no special tools are needed.

Note: This kit has been redesigned to fit on the firewall directly behind the outlet of the airbox. It uses the factory tab located on the firewall.

"Forum experts and social hysteria" may say an OCC is not needed, but we beg to differ. Many MINI owners suffer from carbon buildup on their intake valve due to oil being recycled through the intake tract to be burned.

With the M7 Oil Catch Can, your MINI Cooper's engine will be protected from excessive oil and hydrocarbon buildup, which leads to performance-hindering oil film and sludge along your intake tract, on your engine control sensors, and on your engine's intake valves.

Oil venting and circulation continues to be a problem on BMW engines and now even more so on the turbocharged N54 and N55 engines. The existing stock system does a very poor job of separating fluid and vapor and this leads to an oily film or even small pools of oil throughout the turbos and intake. We're seeing a lot more 135 and 335 cars with drivability and performance issues because oil has sneaked by the ring seals and is coating the intake piping, intercooler, intake valves, and other critical areas. The problem is worsened with higher boost levels. Oil is excellent for lubricating moving parts but terrible when it gets into the combustion chamber, effectively lowering the octane rating and reducing performance. Our own shop has gone the extra step and offers media blasting of the intake valves to strip away the oily buildup we have seen.

Our shop also strongly recommends an oil catch can be installed in the line for the crankcase vent. The oil catch can traps oil as it leaves the valve cover and holds it in a canister. This catch can is located on the cooler side of the engine where the oil will condense easier and stay in the can. Whatever minimal vapors are left over in the oil is then vented back through the canister and into the intake where it is safe to be burned up in the engine or recirculated back through the system again. This is the way the system was designed! At each oil change simply unscrew the canister and empty the trapped oil with your regular used oil. The Burger Tuning oil catch can is the best we have seen so far. Installing one of these will avoid costly repairs in the future and help maintain your boost and performance. It's one of the smartest modifications you can make because it demonstrates a well-thought out tuning strategy and care for the condition of your engine.

Why do so many MINI owners suffer from carbon buildup on their intake valve? The answer is oil being recycled through the intake tract to be burned. With the M7 Oil Catch Can, your MINI Cooper's engine will be protected from excessive oil and hydrocarbon buildup which leads to performance-hindering oil film and sludge along your intake tract, on your engine control sensors and on your engine's intake valves. Because the 2007 & up MINI is direct injection the intake valves do not benefit from the cleaning action provided by the gasoline as in older port injection engines. Now all the oil blow-by burns onto the intake valves and builds up into a flow choking hydrocarbon mess. The end result is loss of power and a very expensive repair bill. The BMS vacuum side N54 OCC works in conjunction with their world-famous boost side N54 oil catch can to prevent engine oil and PCV gunk from coating your intake valves and hurting engine efficiency under engine vacuum operation. The boost side OCC separates oil traveling through the PCV while the engine is operating under boost pressure (e.g. heavy throttle) and the vacuum side OCC separates oil traveling through the PCV while the engine is operating under vacuum (idle and low throttle). It's no secret that BMW turbo motors can suffer from oil control problems causing oil to blow through and coat the intercooler and charge piping, gunking up intake valves and the VANOS system, lowering the effective octane, and generally degrading engine performance. The higher your boost levels the more apparent these problems become. The solution to this problem has finally arrived. The BMS oil catch can. While there are other catch cans on the market they all fall short in various areas. Some are mounted on the hot/turbo side of the motor preventing proper vapor condensation. Others utilize hoses that are too small and runs that are too long to allow proper PCV ventilation causing internal motor/ring sealing issues. Some have insufficient or no internal baffle system while others have internal baffles systems that are too restrictive. Some even bypass the PCV system all together venting crankcase gas and odor to the atmosphere. Most are simply repackaged oil catch cans from smaller / lower power motors shoehorned into place in the turbo BMW engine bay. To solve these problems BMS designed their oil catch can kit from the ground up specifically for the turbo BMW application. It features 100% CNC machining with zero welding for a precision fit and long life. The can itself is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle. The hoses exceed the OEM PCV piping in diameter and that flow rate is maintained throughout the entire oil catch can ensuring no excessive crankcase pressure buildup. The BMS OCC retains the factory fully closed loop PCV operation preventing any PCV vapor from leaking to the atmosphere. The mounting locations are selected to minimize the line length, allow more efficient operation, and retain a stealth look. Install takes around 20 minutes, includes all required hardware, and is 100% reversible. Simply unscrew the base of the can or use the drain plug to safely dispose of captured oil with the rest of your used motor oil during oil changes. Made in USA. High oil temps are one of the triggers that causes the engine electronics to curtail boost, cut power, and possibly switch to limp mode. The stock oil system was not designed with enough cushion for running more boost. We have seen limp modes come from stock vehicles on the race track. To prevent limp modes and reduced performance, Dinan has developed this oil cooler kit with much more surface area than stock.

The Dinan oil cooler kit fits in the stock location behind the front spoiler on the passenger side of the car. This is an ideal location to maximize the ram air effect from the front bumper. New air ducts and vents into the wheel well help improve air flow. PTFE hoses with race-quality fittings and all hardware are included for install. High oil temps are one of the triggers that causes the engine electronics to curtail boost, cut power, and possibly switch to limp mode. The stock oil system was not designed with enough cushion for running more boost. We have seen limp modes come from stock vehicles on the race track. To prevent limp modes and reduced performance, Dinan has developed this oil cooler kit with much more surface area than stock.

The Dinan oil cooler kit fits in the stock location behind the front spoiler on the passenger side of the car. This is an ideal location to maximize the ram air effect from the front bumper. New air ducts and vents into the wheel well help improve air flow. PTFE hoses with race-quality fittings and all hardware are included for install. Some Dinan oil cooler kits can even be used to upgrade cars that never came with an oil cooler. Once you see the Dinan oil cooler side-by-side with the factory cooler, you will understand why it's so much better. The Dinan cooler is bigger in every way - larger capacity, greater surface area, and more cooling tubes.
