Turbochargers and VANOS systems utilize pressurized oil lines in order to get lubrication where it is needed most. In the case of the VANOS system, a small leak in the pressure line will cause a pressure drop and the DME will not be able to adjust timing properly resulting in a loss in power.
The oil feed lines for the M57's turbochargers are known to leak as they age, especially the J Line at the top of the engine due to its tight bend. This kit includes all three replacement oil feed lines, plus the banjo bolts and sealing washers needed to install them.
