Connecting Rods

The S85 engine has a known history of rod bearing failure. If your engine is higher mileage, don't let this catastrophic failure happen to you. Replace your rod bearings and prevent a spun bearing, a failure that has the potential to trash your crankshaft.

What is WPC, you ask? WPC is a surface treatment that reduces friction and adds strength - two improvements that benefit internal engine components. Ultra-fine particles are fired at the surface at very high speeds, like shot-peening - but much, much smaller. The parts come out smoother and stronger due to thermal discharge. The two largest enemies of any high-performance engine are heat and friction - and WPC has found a way to reduce both. What are you waiting for? Use WPC-treated bearings on your next engine build or rod bearing service!

If you're the proud owner of an S54-equipped BMW, chances are you're passionate about enhancing your vehicle's performance and longevity. One crucial upgrade that can significantly improve your driving experience is Turner Motorsport's WPC Rod Bearing Replacement Kit, coupled with ARP Rod Bolts for increased durability.

Enhanced Durability: The WPC Performance Rod Bearing Replacement Kit is designed with superior materials and manufacturing processes. WPC treatment reinforces the surface of the bearings, making them highly resistant to wear, which is essential for high-revving engines like the S54. This durability ensures your engine will stand the test of time, even under strenuous driving conditions. Improved Performance: By reducing friction and wear, WPC-treated rod bearings allow for smoother and more efficient engine operation. This increases power and responsiveness, providing a more exhilarating driving experience. Whether tearing up the track or enjoying a spirited weekend drive, you'll notice a difference in your vehicle's performance. Precision Engineering: Crafted from premium quality materials, these bolts and bearings offer exceptional tensile strength and structural integrity. This guarantees that your connecting rods will stay securely in place, even during high-stress situations. Your engine's components will work in perfect harmony, minimizing the risk of catastrophic engine failure. Preventative Maintenance: The S54 is notorious for rod bearing failure, often necessitating complete short block replacement. Choosing to proactively replace your rod bearings with our WPC offering ensures smooth operation and eliminates potential engine failure. Included in the kit:

12 - Turner Motorsport "Race Series" WPC-Treated Bearing Shells 4 - Self-Locking Collar Nut - Priced Each 1 - Oil Pan Gasket - Elring 1 - Oil Pan Center Cover Gasket 1 - Oil Filter Kit 1 - Oil Drain Plug 1 - Dipstick O-ring 1 - ARP Connecting Rod Bolt Kit (M10x1.25 - for S54B32 produced after 02/2003) 6 - Castrol Edge Euro Car Engine Oil (10w-60) Quart 1 - Redline Assembly Lube - 4 oz

If your engine has higher mileage, don't neglect rod bearing replacement! These bearings are sandwiched between the connecting rod and crankshaft journal and are prone to failure due to overheating, lack of lubrication, or general wear. Replace your rod bearings and prevent a spun bearing.

Starting with ACL’s high-performance bearing shells, our Race Series bearings are built to withstand extreme RPMs and stress. Utilizing a "Duraglide" tri-metal construction and a high-strength overlay plate, these bearings offer superior oiling and heat resistance for high-RPM operation.

Our WPC-treated bearings take ACL’s already impressive design and enhance it even further. The WPC treatment process strengthens and smooths the bearing surface by firing high-speed, ultra-fine particles at the bearing shells, reducing friction and improving durability. This advanced surface treatment ensures smoother operation and improved heat dissipation, which are critical for any high-performance engine.
