Any subframe work or reinforcement project on the rear of the E46 M3 should include a new set of subframe mounts. It's the worn rubber bushings that contribute to failed rear subframes on the E46 (but not the only reason). As the rubber gets worn, there is more flex to the mount. This flexing is then transferred to the sheetmetal in the floor where the spot welds will pop and the sheetmetal will crack. Additional force coming from stiffer suspensions and stickier tires will only increase the flexing of the mounts/chassis.

Of course, stiffer mounts would help prevent this problem but with a stiffer bushing comes ride harshness, vibration, and additional noise. Our engineers and technicians recommend replacement with the factory rubber bushings (along with the appropriate reinforcement of the floor). The rubber bushings help isolate bumps and impacts and are quiet. They are also a perfect fitment and require no maintenance.

This item is a set of 4 Original BMW rubber subframe mounts. Individual part numbers - 33 31 2 283 573 (left front), 33 31 2 283 574 (right front), and 33 31 2 283 419 (left and right rear, x 2).

Since 2010, Advanced Auto Fabrication has been producing and developing both parts and full fledged race cars. Their knowledge base covers a wide range of vehicles both domestic and imported. In the specific case of BMW, the team at AAF has a particular affinity for building and designing components for BMW race cars. E30 race engines can be expensive, so protect your investment! AAF's skid plates have proven their durability on the track. Made from precision cut steel plate, welded in house at AAF, and Powder coated for the most robust surface finish. The AAF E30 Skid Plate is a MUST-HAVE for all PRO3 and E30 Race cars. This skid plate does not use steering rack bolts, so the skid plate can be taken on and off without removing critical bolts or changing wheel alignment like other skid plates. Made specifically for an M20, (with a dimpled relief for the oil drain port, and strong gussets on both sides of the oil pan) but can be used on any E30. Includes a nut plate for ease of installation. Comes with all required hardware. Some drilling required.

The subframe and differential mounting point is the heart of the rear suspension in an E34. When they move, so do all of the rear suspension mounting points. Replacing the stock rubber subframe and differential bushings with UHMW will limit drivetrain and suspension movement and keep your car’s suspension geometry the way it’s supposed to be. They will last longer than the original rubber and do not 'wind up' under load/unload, transferring more power through the axles to the wheels. Recommended for street or race use. Set of 2 subframe bushings.

Replacing your worn stock rubber subframe bushings with IRP's polyurethane bushing set will transform the way your car drives. Stiffer than stock, these bushings still absorb NVH which allows them to be comfortably used on the street without heavily reducing ride quality.
