The accessory drive belts are essential for keeping various components running smoothly off the crank pulley. These belts power critical systems like the generator, fans, water pumps, and AC compressors, ensuring optimal functionality. When your drive belt shows signs of aging such as cracking, glazing, or squeaking, it's time for a replacement.
You can easily spot wear and tear on the belts. Look for glazing on the underside, which indicates reduced effectiveness. Cracks on the back of the belt can result from "dry rot" caused by engine heat or age. Squealing noises are also common with worn belts, indicating slippage on pulleys. In either case, it's crucial to install a new belt for your vehicle's optimal performance.
Gates FleetRunner Micro-V Belts are a top choice, featuring patented EPDM construction with a distinctive green overcord. Designed for heavy-duty drives, these belts offer superior flexibility, stability, and extended lifespan.
