Rocker arms wear in conjunction with the camshafts, meaning the two must be replaced simultaneously. Aftermarket and performance camshaft options (Schrick, CAT-Cams, etc.) are typically ground from softer blanks and, as a result, cannot be used with factory rocker arms. We tested our performance cam followers with aftermarket camshafts to validate compatibility, ensuring smooth, reliable, and safe operation under demanding conditions.

This eccentric shaft is a vital component of your BMW's N55 Valvetronic system, responsible for precise control of valve lift. In the N55 engine, the Valvetronic system uses intermediate levers between the camshaft and lifters to adjust valve lift dynamically. These levers are actuated by this eccentric shaft, which is rotated by an electronically controlled motor under the direction of the engine computer.

Eccentric shaft failure is a common issue in N55 engines, often caused by inadequate lubrication due to extended oil change intervals. The most frequent failure occurs when the eccentric shaft gear wears down, leading to disengagement from the motor's worm drive. Symptoms include multiple fault codes, such as P1014 (Shaft Parity Error), P1017 (Shaft Sensor Plausibility), P1023 (Valvetronic Adjustment Range), and P10E1 (Valvetronic System No Travel Detected).

MINI R56 N18 Adjustment Unit - Outlet Cam is a crucial component for optimizing engine performance. This timing chain camshaft gear, which is the thicker gear positioned toward the front of the engine on the outlet side, plays a key role in the timing and operation of the engine. It is typically replaced when servicing or replacing the timing chain to ensure proper engine function and longevity. As an Original Equipment Supplier (OES) part, it guarantees the same quality and reliability as the factory-installed component.

These cams are a direct replacement for the stock cams and give a solid 15+ horsepower boost at the top end and great midrange torque increases too! More gains can be expected with intake and header upgrades and custom software tuning. A slightly lumpy idle is expected at cold start, but will be smooth once at operating temperature.

These Schrick cams were initially developed for the M3 CSL, but they also work well on the US and other non-CSL S54 engines. With more duration, they are a great match to high-flow headers and CSL intake plenum upgrades.
