Replacing your oil pan can be necessary if you own an older BMW or yours has become dented or damaged. AAF's M20 oil level block off plate for the E30 eliminates the OEM oil level sensor. On the M20 there is an oil level sensor on the oil pan that can be deleted in dedicated motorsports cars. This will allow you to remove a small bit of weight by getting rid of the oil level sender and associated wiring which goes all the way up to the overhead panel. By deleting the plug what you are also doing is eliminating another point of failure and clutter in the engine bay. One major drawback of the N55 engine is the oil pump and pan design. While great for street driven vehicles, this design falls short when tracking your BMW.
