Our sealed Monoball Rear Trailing Arm Bushings (RTAB) are the best solution for completely eliminating deflection and unwanted toe changes on the rear of the E36, E46, and Z4. While rubber and urethane bushings flex during load, the toe can change widely giving you nervous and unpredictable handling. These RTABs have a solid aluminum housing with a high-quality sealed OE bearing. These bushings were developed from years of competition use in various racing and HPDE events. There is simply no better RTAB unless your racing class rules prohibit the use of mono or spherical bearings.

The rear trailing arm bushings take a lot of abuse from acclerating, braking and cornering. The stock rubber bushings are just not up to the task of keeping rear wheel alignment in spec for very long, especially if you have upgraded to stickier tires and a better suspension. The pliable rubber flexes and twists which slows down reaction time and leaves you with a car that feels nervous and 'tail happy'. Urethane helps to control the alignment but issues with fitment, maintenance, and longevity keep us from recommending urethane on anything but a street car. We also offer a Delrin RTAB for cars that must conform to certain racing class rules. These sealed spherical bearings are the best at controlling rear toe alignment.

Our aluminum RTABs are very well made - high grade aluminum alloy and steel CNC'd out of a billet by an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer, each component is either hardcoated or nickel plated. While multiple manufacturers offer two piece designs, our research showed that a one piece bushing is a better design featuring a sealed bearing to keep contaminants out extending the life of the bearing.

Features:

Key Benefits:

  • Rear Trailing Arm Monoball eliminates unwanted deflection, maintaining alignment settings and minimizing wheel hop.
  • Allows full rear trailing arm articulation for low friction movement and eliminates binding found in rubber and poly bushings.
  • Completely streetable: utilizes an OES Lemforder brand sealed, greased ball joint for an extremely long service life with no increase to NVH.

Design Features:

  • Housing: Billet CNC 6061-T6 aluminum, type II anodized for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance
  • Bearing: OE Mercedes/lemforder 2043520027 Sealed ball joint
  • Bearing inserts: CNC machined 303 stainless steel.
  • Rebuildable

Stock rear lower control arms offer very little adjustment for alignment, especially in lowered vehicles, due to their use of an eccentric bolt. These aftermarket performance control arms from ECS Tuning are designed for maximum adjustability, allowing you to maximize handling and minimize tire wear.

To ensure maximum reliability, ECS Tuning's control arms are constructed from strong, lightweight 6061-T6 aluminum and feature a 303 stainless steel center turnbuckle that offers over 8 degrees of fast and precise camber adjustment. The inner bushing is a stock style serviceable OEM bushing for long life and inexpensive maintenance.

Features:

Durable construction suitable for the daily driver and track car alike
8+ degrees adjustment range for dialing in any suspension and wheel/tire setup
Center located adjuster for maximum clearance during adjustment
OEM-style bushing for long life and inexpensive service
Black anodized 6061-T6 aluminum with 303 stainless steel turnbuckle
Includes new hardware
*With the exception of the stance community, most enthusiasts will need no more than a few degrees of adjustment range. Total adjustment often is dependent on wheel/tire clearances.

Made in the USA TMS rear subframe bearings are designed to limit rear control arm movement relative to the subframe. The stock BMW subframe bushings are made out of rubber, which allows variance in suspension position due to deformation and compression. A race car needs to have all suspension points remain in place for proper setup. By using high grade aircraft aluminum alloy and high performance race bearings, the TMS bushing replacements are both lightweight and strong. The casing is designed so that if maximum motion occurs, the load will be evenly distributed throughout the casing. Our flanges are designed to spread the load on the subframe and limit movement. The bearing we use is an extra wide race bearing to distribute the load over a broader area. Each piece is anodized or nickel plated to withstand corrosion. These bushings are a perfect compliment to the TMS lower camber arms.

The rear lower control arms on E82/E9X models are the weakest link in the rear suspension. The arm is made from folded sheetmetal and it bends and deforms easily. Not only will it deform from potholes and curbs, tow truck drivers love to hook onto them without realizing how weak they are. We have seen other race teams complete the box section to make them stronger. A bent arm will throw off the geometry in the suspension, potentially affecting handling and tire wear. These aluminum arms are both lighter and stronger than the factory sheetmetal arms and is the best solution for chronic bending of the stock arm. These are a direct replacement to your stock arms with no changes needed to your alignment. New high-grade hardware is included.

Note: the stock arm is designed from the factory to be intentionally weak. These arms will bend so that something else in the suspension does not break. Our race cars used the stock sheetmetal arm but we replaced them often. We found that it was better to finish a race with a bent arm than not finish due to a catastrophic failure. The ECS arms are still designed to be the weakest link but are far stronger than the factory arm and will not bend as easily.

The E36/E46 rear trailing arm bushings (RTABs) wear out faster than any other bushing on the car. Worn RTAB will cause excessive toe alignment change and give a 'loose' or 'floaty' feeling in the rear handling. One of the reasons for this is that they over-extend during motion, stretching and twisting the rubber in all directions. These shims sit on either side of the bushing and limit the amount of extension from the bushing. Not only will you get more life from your RTAB but these will help stiffen the bushing during cornering. But during normal driving you will still have all of the comfort of the stock rubber bushings. These part about these bushings is how easy they are to install - simply slide them in place during your bushing install. They can be added to pre-installed bushings too by dropping the trailing arm and removing the cage around the bushing.

Works with stock rubber bushings only (not urethane or Delrin).

BMW’s are known to have failure prone rear control arm bushings. The flexible rubber bushings, even those found in M performance models, allow significant movement of the front wheels to maximize daily driving comfort, but also allow considerable alignment change. This results in a disconnected and numb road feel, standing between you and a confidence inspiring driving experience. Eventually the fluid filled rubber bushings fatigue and crack due to continual deflection and ozone degradation, and eventually the damping fluid leaks out resulting in complete failure.

This results in a disconnected and numb road feel, standing between you and a confidence inspiring driving experience. Eventually the fluid filled rubber bushings fatigue and crack due to continual deflection and ozone degradation, and eventually the damping fluid leaks out resulting in complete failure. For the enthusiast looking for superior performance and longevity with a crisp, confidence-inspiring driving experience, our sealed ball joint monoballs are the best solution available! Our experience with spherical front control arm ball joints go back to those we designed and used in our IMSA E90 328i and E92 M3 racecars (GS class Champions in 2011). We wanted to offer F80, F82, F83, and F87 owners similar levels of handling precision and control for the track and street. The bearing housing is precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 anodized aluminum and features a knurled OD to ensure a perfect press fit, and utilize a sealed OEM BMW ball joint for exceptional quality and durability, making them completely at home on both the street and track with no compromise. We have done extensive street, autocross, and track testing to ensure the ball joint used in this bushing design excels in each setting. The advantage of a sealed ball joint is that it eliminates all unwanted deflection while still allowing complete bind-free movement throughout suspension travel, resulting in exceptional control of wheel alignment. What you get is superior steering precision, turn-in response, direct braking feedback, and better handling. In short, if you're seeking the ultimate in precise, predictable handling and control, with crisp braking response and a long service life that’s equally at home on the street or track - look no further. The stock rear trailing arm found on F22/23 2-Series and F3X 3 and 4-Series has already started showing that it's not up to the task of handling multiple track sessions. The rubber bushing that's connected to the rear subframe is too soft to prevent deflection and the sheet metal construction of the arm itself is prone to flexing and twisting. With a desire to eliminate these issues and bring a suitable replacement to market, we are proud to release our Performance Rear Lower Traction Rods!

The stock rear upper control arms on your BMW are primarily designed for comfort and reliability, not for the trials experienced on the Track. This becomes apparent when deformation begins to occur to the sheet metal construction of the control arms and the rubber bushings begin to fail. To remedy this, we now offer our very own upgraded rear upper control arms with FK rod end bearings! These control arms are significantly more stout, holding up to the forces experienced on the track without flexing or bending like the stock control arms. This helps to improve overall handling and stability with only a slight increase in expected NVH.

BMW’s are known to have failure prone rear control arm bushings. The flexible rubber bushings, even those found in M performance models, allow significant movement of the rear wheels to maximize daily driving comfort, but also allow considerable alignment change. We have you covered. We offer these control arms with the monoball bushings pre-installed for your convenience. Since BMW recommends the control arms be replaced for every other bushing change, we prefer to sell these as a pre-assembled set. The bushings are also available separately if you wish to source your own control arms. Features: Bearing housing Precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 blue anodized aluminum Knurled OD to provide the perfect fit for the wide range of thrust arm bore diameters among brands. CNC machined 304ss ball joint sleeve inserts, providing a precision fit between the ball joint and the subframe. Bearing OEM BMW sealed and greased ball joint for exceptional durability and service life. Performance Nearly instantaneous, crisp steering and braking response. Maintenance free, long lasting performance. Improved road feel without undesirable NVH.

The stock Genuine BMW rear toe links (33326792533) are great for standard daily driving and occasional spirited driving, but they tend to fall flat on the track due to the soft rubber bushings causing excess deflection, creating undesirable handling characteristics, not to mention insufficient adjustability. Turner's new Performance Rear Toe Links increase stability and response by eliminating bushing deflection while providing an increased range of rear toe adjustment, necessary for lowered cars or for performance alignments. Even small changes to ride height and camber will effect toe settings, and the wide range of adjustment allows you to maximize grip on a track car and extend tire life on a street car. The factory rear toe arms utilize an eccentric bolt and washer for adjustment and lack precision and range. These toe links feature gun drilled 2024 Aluminum center links, clamps, and clevises, along with a 360-degree rotating clamp system. This combination provides superior strength, performance, durability, and ease of adjustment. No annoying jam nuts! A simple 3/16" Allen-key is all that is required to lock down your alignment settings. FK Spherical Rod Ends are utilized to reduce alignment change in the rear suspension under hard cornering, acceleration, and braking. They feature a Teflon liner to provide quiet operation, low friction, smooth articulation, and eliminate bushing deflection under load. The PTFE liner is chemically bonded to the inner diameter of the race, offering a very high load carrying capacity and greatly increased dynamic wear characteristics. Rear Toe Links Features: Gun drilled 2024 Aluminum Links to reduce unsprung weight 6061-T6 Aluminum Rotating Clamp design Low friction 3-piece Teflon lined FK Heim joints/Rod Ends Sold as a pair Made in the USA

Rear Suspension Mounts With No Flex or Deflection for Improved Handling, Response, and Long Life
Building a track-only or racecar means swapping out the flexible rubber bushings and mounts for non-distorting solid pieces. The stock rubber bushings have serious drawbacks when used hard on the racetrack - they wear out quickly, and the flexible material allows extreme changes in alignment. Switching to solid bushings will eliminate the deflection and flex, keeping the suspension motions in their intended alignment and providing more feedback to the driver. On the E36, solid bushings can help prevent rear subframe failure as the sheetmetal chassis will no longer flex along with the rubber mount. Depending on the bushing's intended purpose, the material we use is either aluminum or Delrin. Delrin is a dense plastic material that has almost zero deflection and long life. It's self-lubricating so it won't ever need grease or lube. All of our bushings are designed by our in-house R&D engineers and tested on our various racing cars, with many used in professional racing series around the world.

If you're building a car for a racing class, the parts and materials you can change to are specified in the rules. Consult your rulebook or tech steward for any clarification. As these bushings have no play or deflection in them, they are not intended for street-focused cars - they do not absorb impacts and vibration like rubber will.

We offer bushings for the following suspension points -
subframe mounts x 4 (aluminum)
inner-upper control arm bushings x 2 (aluminum with bearing)
differential mounts x 3 (1 Delrin, 2 aluminum)
outer upper/lower control arm bushings x 4 (OE-spec replacements) (steel with bearing)
trailing arm bushings (RTABs) x 2 (aluminum with bearing or Delrin)
suggested: front control arm bushings (FCABs) (Delrin)
suggested: rear shock mounts (RSMs) x 2 (aluminum with bearing)

Notes
Note 1: there is also a inner-lower camber arm bushing. We never developed a solid bushing for this point because every racing class allows adjustable camber arms to be used in this location and we offer those with solid inner bushings.
Note 2: some racing classes require a non-bearing bushing for the rear trailing arm bushings. In cases like this, we use a Delrin bushing.
Note 3: the outer upper and lower bushings are already a monoball-style bearing from the factory on all M3 models. They are a great design and last a long time. We offer them as direct replacements or as upgrades for the non-M3 models.

Over time, those soft OE rubber bushings degrade, turning your tight BMW handling into a vague, mushy mess and eating through your tires.
