When MINI released the F5X platform, every model gained BMW's modern turbocharged B38 and B48 engines. These were an instant upgrade over the outgoing Prince engines, boasting increased reliability, performance potential, and, best of all, a turbocharger! Unfortunately, the factory airbox does its best to hide this, silencing the turbo's character and nixing any chance of driving excitement. Thankfully, the team at ECS set out to improve upon this shortcoming with their Luft-Technik Performance Intake System!

At the heart of this system is a durable aluminum intake tube, finished in high-quality wrinkle black powdercoat for a premium finish. This intake pipe is 80mm in diameter, ensuring the induction tract is free of restriction and maximizing airflow. A proprietary, ECS-branded bracket is used to secure this pipe to the strut tower, providing a clean mounting solution with minimal movement or flex. To enhance induction noise, this intake system includes a conical air filter that features oiled media for optimal airflow.
