"Mixed use" street/track pads are also known as beginner's pads. They are intended for rookie and first-time track drivers who know that their normal street pads will not hold up in prolonged track environments. The biggest enemy to brakes on a track is heat. Working a pad beyond its temperature range will lead to a loss of performance - aka brake fade. Using a pad with higher metallic and/or ceramic content will improve its resistance to fade at higher temperatures, but at a cost. Unlike strictly-street pads, mixed-use pads need some heat in them to work effectively. Therefore, they are not the best for regular street use. Metallic pads also tend to squeal and produce large amounts of dust. On the other hand, these are not all-out race pads and some fade on the track may occur. If you are experiencing fade with these pads it would be an indication to move up to an all-out race pad and get a brake cooling kit. Street-track pads will be fairly easy on rotors and have long life when kept within their operating temps. These generally also work great as an autocross pad.

A high-performance street pad with much-improved braking performance and without the levels of dust from a factory pad. The Street 5.0 pads are perfect for drivers who don’t want an ordinary replacement pad and want something that will hold up during aggressive street driving. The Street 5.0 pads are similar to the established Hawk HPS pads but with more initial bite. While the HPS pads fill the need of a direct replacement OEM-type pad, the Street 5.0 kicks braking performance into the next gear. With the Street 5.0 pads you can expect: Better stopping power even when the pads are cold Good initial bite (more than on Hawk HPS) Excellent resistance to fade during street use Moderate dust during normal street driving Quiet operation Easy on rotors

From years of European automotive experience, the enthusiasts at ECS Tuning have developed a strong understanding of what it takes to produce a quality high-performance brake pad. After thousands of miles and many different pad compounds, they've landed on the ideal blend for the new EP24 "Enthusiast Performance" brake pad! If you're looking for a streetable, track-capable, performance brake pad, look no further than the ECS EP24!

Features & Benefits:

Strong stopping power - Increased coefficient of friction offers satisfying stopping power when cold (a necessity for a street pad!) and even more G-force-inducing power when they warm up. With cold and warm friction comparable to Hawk HPS (and higher than many other street pads) the stopping experience with the EP24 pad is impressive for street-driven vehicles on streetable tires. Positive initial bite - Race pads have the reputation of acting like an on/off switch, which is a no-go for a pad for a street application. The EP24 offers OE-level initial bite for low-stress braking in stop-and-go situations. Reasonable dust - Race pads utilize a high metallic composition. Pads that use high amounts of metal not only dust terribly, but also will bake onto wheels with high temperatures and are a bear to clean. This is not the case with these performance street pads. Now using these pads on most of our shop cars, we’ve found over time that dust is comparable to factory pads in most applications (with greatly improved braking performance). Quiet braking - It’s not a race pad, so it shouldn’t squeal like one. While not as quiet as our ceramic DD23 pad, you’ll still be able to drive your spouse to dinner. Long life - This should be an obvious one. Even in a performance pad, your daily driver pads should last and last, so that was key in selecting our ideal compound. This compound wears slower and is kinder to rotors than two of the top competitors.

EP24 "Enthusiast Performance" brake pads are included in our Lifetime Replacement Program for worry-free motoring.
