The JB Racing aluminum flywheel, weighing just 10.0 lbs compared to the stock 25.0 lbs, eliminates this excess mass, allowing more power to reach the wheels and reducing the energy wasted on spinning the flywheel. Engine builders prioritize lightweight flywheels when optimizing race engines for maximum efficiency, and the difference is especially noticeable in how quickly the engine revs and reaches its power band.
This JB Racing lightweight flywheel is a direct replacement for the stock flywheel and is compatible with the factory BMW organic clutch. This compatibility ensures that you can use standard replacement clutches, making maintenance simple and cost-effective. The flywheel can also be resurfaced for a fresh contact surface, so there’s no need to buy a new one when it’s time to replace the clutch.
While single-mass aluminum flywheels like this one may result in slightly more noise and vibration compared to dual-mass designs, this can be managed with heavier transmission oil and sprung hub clutches, such as the Sachs Performance clutch available through Turner Motorsport.
