Multi-Layer Steel gaskets are comprised of multiple embossed layers of both proprietary high-temperature coated and uncoated stainless steel, requiring less clamp load, creating less bore distortion, and conforms load distribution across the sealing area. The embossed outer layers of our head gaskets meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions, and surface finishes. The MLS Gasket (Multi-Layer Steel) features an active combustion seal on multiple layers. The stainless steel outer layers utilize FKM (Viton®) rubber coating, a high-temperature and chemical-resistant polymer. A topcoat of PTFE aids in resistance to fret and increased cold sealing.
Cometic's MLX Gasket (Multi-Layer-Xtreme) features an extra 'stopper' fold-over layer providing a torque limiting surface that prevents yielding of the combustion seal. Proprietary high-temperature coatings along with embossments provide a micro seal for fluids against the head and block surface.
