Product Details
The E39 M5 Transmission Fluid Kit delivers a 50/50 blend of Red Line MTL 75W-80 and Red Line D4 ATF to eliminate cold shift resistance in the Getrag 420G manual gearbox. Factory fluid formulations cause a cold 1-to-2 gear crunch during warmup. Blending Red Line MTL with Red Line D4 ATF resolves synchro drag at low temperatures while maintaining high-load gear wear protection.
- Fluid Composition: 1 Quart Red Line MTL 75W-80 and 1 Quart Red Line D4 ATF
- Sealing Hardware: 2 BMW OEM M24 crush washers
- Fastener Torque: 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) using a 17mm hex socket
- Service Capacity: 1.4L to 1.7L filled to overflow on a level vehicle
Turner Tip: Break the TOP fill plug free before removing the drain plug to prevent stranding the vehicle with an empty, unfillable gearbox.
Purchase the E39 M5 cold-shift transmission fluid kit to restore manual gearbox engagement.
