This Schwaben BMW E53/E70 Rear On-Car Spring Compressor Tool is made from high strength steel for superior strength and durability and is necessary to safely remove the springs on most vehicles. It is extremely difficult to remove/install rear springs, many documented reports of this. When trying to install a lift kit puck, this is likely impossible to do “safely”. 

Conventional (external-type) compressors can not be used due to the confined space on these cars. Proposed by engineer Mike, a threaded rod, inserted from the top along with spring compressor plates, will offer the benefits of a spring compressor without the inherent shortfalls in this application. 

The threaded rod goes through the body of the vehicle and  compresses the spring to the body of the vehicle. Compress spring by turning the nut on the threaded rod using a socket or wrench (do not use air impact). The spring can then be removed for replacement or service.
