Replacing your oil pan can be necessary if you own an older BMW or yours has become dented or damaged. Not only does this part hold all of the oil the internal baffle structure prevents starvation under cornering and acceleration. Making sure your oilpan is intact and leak free will prevent problems down the road.

AAF's M20 oil level block off plate for the E30 eliminates the OEM oil level sensor. On the M20 there is an oil level sensor on the oil pan that can be deleted in dedicated motorsports cars. This will allow you to remove a small bit of weight by getting rid of the oil level sender and associated wiring which goes all the way up to the overhead panel. By deleting the plug what you are also doing is eliminating another point of failure and clutter in the engine bay. Under racing and track conditions, oil can move in the oil pan enough to cause extended moments of oil starvation. This can cause premature, and in some cases immediate, engine failure. The pan features a tight fit to keep oil from exiting under braking or cornering. Ten gated holes control oil slosh in the sump.
