As a team of enthusiasts who own all types of European cars, we have the advantage of the exposure that comes with the enthusiast lifestyle - and have a strong understanding of what makes a great brake pad. In the pursuit of a really great brake pad for daily driving, we’ve tested a wide range of brake pads. After thousands of test miles, iterating through a variety of pad compounds, we’ve landed on the ideal blend for our DD23 Daily Driver ceramic pad.
Features:
Good stopping power - Brake pads need to stop your car, period, so this is key. We focused on selecting a compound that offers a healthy level of friction (both when hot and when cold) for safe, positive stopping power.
Positive initial bite - You should feel your brakes engage as you press the pedal, but it should not feel like an on/off switch! Advanced ceramic composition means you’ll enjoy a smooth transition on and off of the brake pedal, meaning your passengers will have a comfortable ride in stop-and-go traffic. We’ve hit a good balance here.
Very low-dust - Some factory-installed pads are eye-poppingly dusty, which is a no-go for us. Thanks to the composition of this ceramic pad, which is copper-free and contains a negligible amount of other metals, dust is both lighter in color and very limited in amount. We’ve improved on the “dust factor” without sacrificing on bite and stopping power as a good compromise, which will be a win for anyone who doesn’t detail daily (or anyone who does, too!)
Quiet braking - It’s not a race pad, so it shouldn’t squeal like one. Extremely low metallic composition means they will not squeal. DD23 is comfortable and quiet - both on the ears and in lack of vibration transmitted through the cabin.
Long life - This should be an obvious one. Your daily driver pads should last and last, so that was key in selecting our ideal compound. This is another benefit to having ceramic material composition versus a softer organic pad (which have higher metallic and various organic elements) and wear much faster. Ours are kind to rotors, too (no accelerated wear characteristics) for many miles of motoring.

These pads were originally equipped on the Euro E46 M3 models and the US M3 ZCP, as well as Euro-spec M models from the 1990s. Owners of the E46 M3 will know that the stock pads are already quite 'aggressive' from the factory with a lot of initial bite. The initial bite was built into the pad to stop criticism of BMW's lack of 'performance' brakes. Instead of building the M models with exotic - and expensive - multi-piston calipers, BMW engineers turned up the braking power in their pads. These pads go a step further as the pads that originally came on the Euro E46 M3 and all E46 M3 ZCPs. For the street, these are excellent brake pads with excellent feel and performance. The only downside is the dust that comes from an organic pad. The problem with many aftermarket and OEM pads is that they do not match the same level of initial bite as the stock OE BMW pads. This can make the brakes feel 'weak' and 'numb' even though the pads are working properly. If you want to maintain your braking feel, these are the best to use.
Although these pads were originally designed for M cars, they fit other models as well, making them a great first-step upgrade for better braking.

Strong stopping power - Increased coefficient of friction offers satisfying stopping power when cold (a necessity for a street pad!) and even more G-force-inducing power when they warm up. With cold and warm friction comparable to Hawk HPS (and higher than many other street pads) the stopping experience with the EP24 pad is impressive for street-driven vehicles on streetable tires. Positive initial bite - Race pads have the reputation of acting like an on/off switch, which is a no-go for a pad for a street application. The EP24 offers OE-level initial bite for low-stress braking in stop-and-go situations. Reasonable dust - Race pads utilize a high metallic composition. Pads that use high amounts of metal not only dust terribly, but also will bake onto wheels with high temperatures and are a bear to clean. This is not the case with these performance street pads. Now using these pads on most of our shop cars, we’ve found over time that dust is comparable to factory pads in most applications (with greatly improved braking performance). Quiet braking - It’s not a race pad, so it shouldn’t squeal like one. While not as quiet as our ceramic DD23 pad, you’ll still be able to drive your spouse to dinner. Long life - This should be an obvious one. Even in a performance pad, your daily driver pads should last and last, so that was key in selecting our ideal compound. This compound wears slower and is kinder to rotors than two of the top competitors.

A high-performance street pad with much-improved braking performance and without the levels of dust from a factory pad. The Street 5.0 pads are perfect for drivers who don’t want an ordinary replacement pad and want something that will hold up during aggressive street driving. The Street 5.0 pads are similar to the established Hawk HPS pads but with more initial bite. Product Details
A light-duty street pad with improved levels of dust and noise compared to stock ceramic pads. Hawk Ceramic pads pick up where stock pads leave off. They offer improved stopping power over stock but with less dust and are "noise-free". These pads are intended as a daily-driver pad for conditions normally seen during everyday use, not race or autocross environments.
This pad set includes pads for both FRONT brakes.

Pagid's newest sprint racing pad was developed for racing cars achieving very high average speeds with short braking distances and functional aero. The RST pads feature very high friction levels for the quickest bite and highest fade resistance than any other Pagid pad. RST pads are broken into 5 levels and all have ranging bite and release characteristics. RST pads will trade low wear for torque output and faster response. These were developed based on the needs of race engineers in World Challenge, Daytona Prototype, and GTLM where functional aero meant high grip in the corners and smaller braking zones.

Pagid Racing RS Allround Blue brake pads are an exceptional pad for nearly any racing application. The main features of these pads include consistent in-stop behavior with good pedal feedback, excellent release characteristics, low heat conductivity, decent disc wear rate, and easy bedding. Owned and operated by performance driving enthusiasts, Cool Carbon Performance not only has the German pedigree known for engineering rigor and excellence, but their experience with club, track and racing events has given them a special sensitivity to the unique needs of today's daily street performance drivers.
For their latest Street Performance PLUS Brake Pad release, special consideration was given to build materials and R&D test results.
In Cool Carbon's new dedicated brake pad facility, they've developed a new proprietary “low-Met” formula utilizing Twaron Aramid fibers, similar to Kevlar material, that rapidly dissipates heat and resists wear and was developed and subjected to a test protocol that included friction, temperature, and wear monitoring.
The stunning results of these efforts are seen in their real world performance: greater linear and predictable initial bite that the previous S/T pads, consistent braking torque, superior resistance to heat-cycling, proven fade resistance, and crucially reduced dust levels.
BMW owners will also notice a welcomed measure of practicality and drivability with Cool Carbon products. The “grabby” tendency often felt with OEM BMW brakes is eliminated; the CC brake compound allows for a much more controllable and linear application of brake pressure and a much greater degree of modulation.

The latest in the Yellow line takes all of the RSL29 characteristics and adds a bit more aggressive behavior. Friction levels go up for more initial bite and better fade resistance. Modulation and release stays close to RSL29 levels. Pad and rotor wear is a little more than on the previous Yellows but still within reasonable levels and the RSL1 is still considered an extended endurance pad. Its development stemming from GT classes at Le Mans and Nürburgring.
Since Pagid pads tend to "out-gas" we recommend using these pads with a new gas-slotted or cross-drilled rotor for the best performance. Pagid brake pads are not compatible with previously used rotors, especially if used with a carbon or Kevlar based race pad.

Brake pad wear sensor should be replaced at ever brake service, even if not worn down. This ensures the sensor is as new as possible and less likely to fail due to built up corrosion.
