The seal is found between your BMW's engine block and your engine mount bracket, sealing the oil filter housing feed and return lines. This seal is also found between the engine block and oil filter housing connection flange for E53 X5 4.4L and 4.6L models. If you are experiencing an oil leak from the connection between the oil filter housing lines and your engine mount bracket (or connection flange), this seal is the likely culprit that needs to be replaced!
