Are your dome lights working intermittently? Is the window on your E36 coupe acting strangely? Then this door latch striker may be the cause. It is mounted on the door jam and is the catch for the door latch. It contains a switch that tells the car that the door is open or closed. This switch turns the dome light on/off when the door is opened/closed -- as well as operating the automatic window lowering/raising on 94 and newer models.
