By the early 1990s, BMW had phased out its canister-style ignition coil in favor of an individual coil-on-plug system. The venerable M50 was one of the first engines to receive this update, which boasts greater overall efficiency through increased ignition control and spark energy. Unfortunately, over two decades later, the ignition coils used on the M50, M52, S50, and S52 engines are antiquated at best. Our team of engineers and BMW enthusiasts realized the need for an ignition system upgrade and set out to modernize the M5X ignition system with performance ignition coils pulled from the B58 parts bin.
WHY UPGRADE?
B58 ignition coils provide up to 2.5 times more spark energy than OE M5X ignition coils, effectively eliminating misfires even on high-performance setups. Whether your vehicle is heavily modified or completely stock, these ignition coils deliver unparalleled performance with zero downsides! For tuners, the Turner Motorsport kit also allows for precise adjustments to ignition dwell time through standalone engine management, giving you complete control over your engine’s performance.
Our kit utilizes the factory mounting locations and includes a proprietary boot design with a built-in 1k OHM resistor. Unlike many aftermarket options, our design prevents electrical contact springs from burning out, ensuring long-term reliability and durability. The included ignition coil bracket and cover plate are manufactured from durable 5052 aluminum, combining rugged durability with a premium aesthetic. Designed and optimized in-house using cutting-edge 3D scanning hardware and CAD software, our kit ensures a perfect fit and a clean, factory-like appearance. Installation is a breeze with the included adapter harness, allowing you to add modern ignition coils to your M5X with ease!
Eliminate misfires and unleash the full potential of your M5X-equipped BMW with our industry-leading B58 ignition coil upgrade. Designed for easy installation and unparalleled reliability, it’s the ultimate plug-and-play solution for performance enthusiasts.
FEATURES:
B58 ignition coils offer upwards of 2.5x more spark energy than the OE M5X ignition coils Eliminates common ignition system defects - no more chasing misfires or swapping around coil packs! The included brackets, cover plates, wiring harness adapters, and proprietary boots make for an easy installation Confirmed functionality with factory M3.3.1 (OBDI) and MS41 (OBDII) DME software PART DESIGN:
Bolt-on ignition coil brackets are manufactured from 5052 aluminum and feature a black anodized coating for superior durability, ensuring a lasting finish 5052 brushed aluminum cover plates ensure a cohesive, OEM+ aesthetic Utilizes factory ignition coil mounting locations and corresponding hardware for easy installation Our proprietary rubber boot design incorporates the factory B58 1K OHM resistor, preventing the electrical contact failure commonly associated with other aftermarket kits Coil adapter harnesses feature durable Weatherpack connectors, safeguarding each wire from exposure to water Compact design allows for retaining the factory beauty cover and/or clearance with aftermarket top-mount turbocharger kits KIT CONTENTS:

Ignition coils are key to the efficiency and performance of your BMW. With a faulty coil the spark plug is not burning the air/fuel mixture properly and that can lead to problems anywhere in the engine and exhaust (including catalytic converters and O2 sensors). Problems with one or more coils will cause a fault code but not always a check engine light. A misfire code may be related to an ignition coil but could be from other things as well. Sometimes a visual inspection of a coil and coil boot will give an indication of a failure. You can also move coils around to different cylinder banks to see if the misfire code follows a suspect coil. We suggest always having one or two coils on hand to keep as spares.
This Bremi coil was used in M42, M50, M50tu, and M60 engines. BMW has made numerous changes to ignition coil part numbers in recent years but has approved this part number to work in the vehicles listed below. This part number replaces previous BMW part numbers 12131703359, 12131731884, 12131730765, 12131748394, 12131729842, 12131726178, 12131726177, 12131727108, 12131734468, and 12131748395.
