This sealed ball joint is in the lower rear outer control arm (swing arm) and is the primary weak point of the rear suspension. This one ball joint takes a lot of twisting and deflection so this is usually the first bushing to wear out. When it does, you have a 'loose' or disconnected feeling in the rear alignment. You can restore your car's stability by replacing this ball joint and also evaluating the other components in the rear suspension (upper wishbones and guide links). This part is made by Lemforder, the Original Equipment Manufacturer, and is a perfect fit and excellent quality. A new snap ring is included for your convenience. Beware of non-OEM brands at cheap prices that will not perform at the same standards as BMW intended.

This is the main rear upper control arm (or wishbone) for the E39 5-series. It helps to locate the wheel hub and keep the alignment in check. It has an inner rubber bushing and outer ball joint. When these wear out the rear suspension becomes less stable and 'planted' than before. You may also notice a clunking noise when going over bumps. This OEM Lemforder rear guide rod for the E38 7 series and E39 5 series chassis helps to control the toe alignment of the car (the horizontal in/out angle of the tire). There is a rubber bushing on the inside and a ball joint on the outside mounting point. When the bushings on the arm wear out they can contribute to a 'wandering' or 'loose' or unstable feeling in the rear. There may also be a clunking noise associated with bumps. This is the OEM Front Right Lower Control Arm for E39 BMW 525i 528i 530i 1997-2003.

These are the original front upper control arm bushings for the E39 540i/M5 and E38 740i/iL and 750iL. The OEM bushings from Lemforder are filled with heavy fluid to help dampen vibrations and rough road surfaces that can make their way up through the chassis and into the steering. As the bushing wears, is compressed and expanded, and subjected to harsh environments the fluid can leak out or evaporate which will leave the bushing without much strength. This can lead to a shimmy in the steering wheel and vibrations in the braking and handling that are often mis-diagnosed as warped brake rotors on the E39 and E38. Replacing these bushings with new parts will restore the precision and tightness to your steering and suspension.

Replacement REAR sway bar / swaybar link for all 1997-2003 5 series sedans and wagons. Made by Lemforder. this is a very common wear item in the E39 suspension, especially when the car has been driven hard. While replacing this part, also check the sway bar bushing bracket for signs of stress or failure. It can be used on both the left and right side of the car. Two required per car, and are sold individually.
