The carrier bearing supports the center of the drive shaft between the transmission and the differential. As miles and age increase, bearing failure can occur resulting in a howling noise. The rubber mount may degrade as well, causing excess vibration from the drive shaft. When disassembling drive shaft make sure to mark each section, as these are balanced as a unit.

To prevent this we recommend changing your filter, fluid, and seals to ensure your transmission continues to operate flawlessly. We recommend filter and fluid changes every 50,000 miles. This filter fits A5S325Z automatic transmissions on BMW E46 323i 323ci 325i 325ci 328i 328ci 330i 330ci . E39 525i 528i 530i. E85 Z4 2.5i Z4 3.0i. This kit includes the transmission filter and gasket.
