The water pump is a known failure point on most BMWs, new and old. Older model BMWs come from the factory with a mechanical fan that features a plastic impeller. If your BMW still has a water pump with a plastic impeller, you should upgrade to one with a metal impeller to avoid future failure. New BMWs utilize an electric water pump that cost BMW millions of dollars to design - when it is working it is great, unfortunately these fail so regularly that we recommend replacing your electric water pump every 60,000 miles to avoid stranding yourself on the side of the road. These aluminum water pump screws are single use and must be replaced each time they are removed. These are used on all 325i, 328i, and 330i with the BMW N51 N52 and N53 engines. They were also used on some early N54 engines that have rubber mounts on the water pump housing. Do not use these bolts if your N54 water pump has been replaced with a housing that does not have the rubber mounts.

This is the mounting bolt used for the water pump on all N55 engines as well as later (updated) N54 engines. These are sold per bolt and 3 are required for mounting the water pump.

This is a new and revised bolt design to match the updated water pump ( p/n 11517632426 ). BMW changed the design for the N55 and all subsequent replacement N54 pumps. The updated pump does not use a rubber isolator in the mounting flange. The previous water pump did have this rubber mount and required a longer bolt. The new bolts are also zinc-coated grade 8.8 steel instead of aluminum. That means the new bolts are re-usable instead of 1-time use like the old design.

Sold per bolt. 3 are usually required for the N54/N55 water pump.

This is the coolant return pipe on the back of the water pump on the N62 and N73 engines used in the E53 X5, E60 545/550, E63 645/650, E65 745/750, E70 X5, and F02 750. This pipe connects the water pump to the valley pan and it's a compression fitting (no o-rings). Whenever the water pump or valley pan are replaced this tube should also be replaced.
