If you're tracking your BMW you should absolutely have stickier rubber on wider wheels. Most BMWs have a staggered wheel set with a narrow front wheel that results in understeer. Adding a wider wheel will get you more rubber where it counts - reducing understeer and improving initial turn-in. This is a very aggressive offset and custom alignment settings will be required. Trimming of plastic fender liners or fender rolling may also be required depending on tire size/type and ride height.
