This kit from Valeo is a simple way to easily convert your stock dual mass flywheel clutch system to a single mass system.
Dual mass flywheels allow for fluid-feeling clutch engagements and offer a more luxurious feel than single-mass flywheels. However, with these benefits come significant drawbacks. Why convert from a dual-mass flywheel to a single-mass flywheel?
Cost: Dual-mass flywheels are expensive, with the cost of replacement often times being double or triple than that of converting to a single-mass flywheel.
Serviceability: Single-mass flywheels can be resurfaced, eliminating the need to replace with the next clutch service. - something that is not recommended with dual-mass flywheels, as they contain a rubber section that is more failure-prone in high mileage application.
Simplicity: Single-mass flywheels lack the complexity of dual-mass flywheels, making them inherently more reliable. Dual-mass flywheels contain a rubber damper or hub that will, like all rubber components, wear out with time.
Pedal Feel: Many enthusiasts prefer to eliminate BMW's "Self Adjusting Clutch", which has been known to provide an unpredictable, inconsistent engagement point.
Driveability: Valeo's conversion kit has been designed to maintain nearly identical clutch and flywheel weight, ideal for keeping the clutch quiet and easy to drive.

This clutch kit is their most popular and features a Heavy Duty pressure plate, a Performance Street sprung clutch disc, and an XACT Streetlite Flywheel.
The heavy duty pressure plate included offers a 20-50% clamp load increase, stock-moderate pedal feel, and heat treated diaphragms for increased strength and performance.
Next in this kit is the Performance Street clutch disc. This is the most popular sprung clutch disc and features high quality organic friction material with a high copper content for improved heat transfer and a steel backed lining for increased strength in burst load circumstances. This organic clutch disc has a significantly higher torque capacity than a stock disc but still retains a long life span and operates quietly and reliably.
The final main component is the XACT Streetlite Flywheel. This option is the most popular thanks to it versatility for street driving and drag/track style racing, its lighter weight for increased throttle response, and its single mass design.

This clutch kit features an Xtreme pressure plate and an R6 racing clutch disc.
Their Xtreme pressure plate offers a 50-120% clamp load increase, moderate to heavy pedal feel, and is recommended for high performance street and racing applications. All diaphragms went through a four stage heating process for increased strength and unparalleled performance.
Next in this kit is the R6 racing clutch disc. This disc is an unsprung, rigid disc with 6 pads that is best suited for drag and road racing and handles heat better thanks to its increased surface contact area versus the 4 pad version of this disc, the R4. The R6 pads are composed of ceramic friction materials and the disc has a chome-moly hub that is heat treated for additional strength under high load engagements. Over stock, this disc is much better for faster shifting and significantly higher torque loads. Unlike the stock disc, this racing disk has a slightly shortened life span due to its rigid design and pad composition. This in turn is offset thanks to its fast, aggressive engagement for track use.

This clutch package is designed for high HP vehicles desiring a start performance similar to O.E. The pressure plate is Race Engineered (SS) and SFI approved with significant load increase over stage 1,2 pressure plates (+600-800 lbs.). Expect a pedal effort increase of 20%-25%. Discs are assembled with heat-treated wear resistant hubs; drive plates and springs for high load transfer and dependable operation. The sprung centers on the disc in conjunction with the marcel fin between the linings create a dual dampening effect that simulates O.E. start performance. A Performance Organic friction material with a high metal content increases torque and RPM capability and maintains low operating temperatures which reduces wear and glazing.
