The oil filter housing is pretty self explanitory; It holds the oil filter assembly. Not only does this provide a small amount of cooling but it makes the filter much easier to service.
If you have a leaking oil filter housing seal, why not replace it while doing an oil service? This kit includes an Oil service kit along with an oil filter housing gasket and thermostat housing gasket.
