Dinan Iridium Spark Plugs are an excellent upgrade for tuned, and even stock engines, where applicable.* Our spark plugs are made from Iridium - one of the strongest materials available. They last longer than other materials with higher melting points, run cooler, resist preignition, and even require less voltage to produce a strong spark. The iridium electrode with its copper core is harder and stronger than other materials, can dissipate heat more easily, and is better protected from melting, cracking, and other limitations found with standard plugs. Dinan spark plugs are great for high boost, high cylinder pressure, high cylinder temperatures, and high-power situations, and they pair nicely with a set of Dinan ignition coils, where applicable. However, they are not only for tuned and higher output vehicles that may benefit from a plug cooler than the factory heat range – they also are applicable to select non-tuned / stock vehicles as well!* *N54 & N55 COMPATIBILITY: Dinan plugs are numerous steps colder than stock on both the N54 (3 steps colder) and N55 (2 steps colder) and are suggested for tuned, high boost and/or upgraded turbo applications only. They are *NOT* suggested for non-tuned stock vehicles for these speciific applications. If installed on a stock N54/N55 vehicle the plug will not reach its self cleaning temperature and be unable to burn off the combustion deposits leading to fouling, misfires, and a shorter lifespan of the plug.

NOTE: For the N54, these plugs are 2 Steps Colder, while for the N55 they are only 1 Step Colder. When it comes time to change your spark plugs, you may wonder about colder stepped spark plugs as many others have. Colder spark plugs work by pulling more heat out of the engine's cylinders (making them "colder") and dissipating it into the engine's head, which is then cooled by the cooling system. Depending on how you have your engine built, these could be a great addition! Colder plugs can help prevent engine knock and prevent the tip of the spark plug from melting or misfiring. There are two rules that most people tend to go by when deciding on which spark plugs to buy: The first rule of thumb is that with every 100 horsepower added, you should run spark plugs that are a step colder than your stock plugs. This is generally accepted across the motorsports community but unfortunately isn't always the most accurate measurement of when you will need colder plugs. The second rule is to go a step colder any time you massively alter cylinder temperatures by adding forced induction to an NA engine, by increasing compression ratio, after altering timing in a major way, or by changing fuel types to something with a higher octane rating such as racing fuel. Adding spark plugs that are a step colder outside of these conditions, with no real change to the engine, can actually hurt more than help by leading to spark plugs fouling quicker than normal and by making the car harder to start in cold weather conditions. We suggest talking to your engine builder or tuner before making the change, or you can call our Turner Motorsport sales staff to discuss what modifications have been made to your vehicle and see if these plugs are right for you!

Poor idle, low fuel efficiency, and engine misfire codes are all symptoms of worn spark plugs. Replace yours with quality factory direct parts to get your engine running as well as possible.

These plugs from BMW are the solution for all of these problems. Over the years, the electrode wears away on spark plugs, causing too large of a gap and weak spark. Additionally, excess carbon can build up and bridge the gap to negatively effect performance. Replace yours with these factory correct units to regain your power, fuel efficiency, and smooth a poor idle.

If you are replacing any aspect of your ignition system, it's best to replace all serviceable components. By doing so, your ignition system will work in better harmony, freeing up hidden horsepower and raising fuel economy. Skim the ECS Tuning ignition area under your model for spark plugs, wires, coil packs and more to get your vehicle into top shape.
