N54 and N55 engines are prone to water pump failure - replace every 60,000 miles. If your water pump is starting to fail, you may notice coolant leaks, or even hear a whining noise coming from under the hood. If you think your water pump is starting to fail, replace it as soon as you can. The main downside to an electric water pump is you may also notice nothing - nothing but overheating! Keep your eyes peeled for warning signs it may be time to replace your water pump.
