Similarly to brake pads, the brake rotors can be matched to specific driving conditions and intended use. For solely street use the design and characteristics particular to each rotor are not big factors in overall braking performance. For instance, a cross-drilled rotor will not significantly improve braking under street conditions. Improved stopping performance will come mostly from your brake pads. Some rotor designs perform better under racing conditions with racing pads but, generally, all rotor types can be used on the street. For race track use we typically recommend a slotted or blank stock rotor. Any 2-piece floating rotor is superior to anything else and those are our first recommendation when available. For more information on the brake rotors we sell, check out our rotor buying guide.

All of these rotors are manufactured to meet BMW's specs for each vehicle application. Our standard rotors are sourced from original manufacturers for BMW (OEM), performance alternatives, or straight from BMW themselves. In some cases BMW Motorsport and BMW Performance will have their own rotor upgrades. Our Cross-Drilled, Slotted, and Drilled+Slotted rotors are manufacturered by StopTech - a global leader in braking technology and the braking technical partner to the Turner Motorsport racing team.

Do you need a pair of inexpensive rotors on your vehicle but don't want to sacrifice quality? This pair of Zimmerman brake rotors fills the bill with these quality replacements. There are several ways in which your brake rotors can get damaged. Excessive rust is a hazard in rotors made with iron, but warping seems to be the most common issue. When a rotor becomes warped, excessive heat causes a disproportionate expansion of the braking surface of the rotor. This can lead to vibration in the steering wheel and elsewhere while braking. Zimmerman has been making rotors for the aftermarket for years. Their quality replacement automotive components and outstanding prices make them the first choice among many looking for aftermarket parts. These rotors are no exception, offering stock-like performance and great price. If it's time to replace your rotors, also consider replacing your pads. ECS Tuning carries a wide variety of stock replacement and performance pads to restore or upgrade braking performance. Keep your braking system in top notch condition by checking and replacing components whenever wear is visible or suspected.

The Girodisc system is a direct replacement iron rotor for the OEM Carbon disc, no modifications are necessary. The disc will bolt directly to the car and work with OEM calipers and pads perfectly. The central hat section of our rotor is made from strictly U.S. sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from our own proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined from start to finish in house at Girodisc. The rotor utilizes a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc. The rotor and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 12 high strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to our own specifications and cadmium plated for a long lasting corrosion resistance. These pins take the load from braking actions while maintaining the axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured by class 12.9 cap screws with hardened washers. In order to keep the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side which allow the rotor to grow with heat expansion but eliminate the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This float also allows the rotor to self center between the pads. Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed.
