The Dinan X-Pipe for the F95 X5M and F96 X6M introduces a more aggressive tone and increased volume over the stock system. Coupled with the associated Dinan exhaust, the sound is further enhanced into a smoother, fuller, and more aggressive growl that perfectly encapsulates the dynamic nature of the V8 powered SAV's. This full mid-section kit removes the hydro-formed factory center section, including the resonator, and replaces it with larger 3.25" T304 stainless steel tubing for freer flowing capabilities. In place of the factory resonator, Dinan incorporates a beautifully crafted X-pipe made from mandrel-bent tubing for minimum restriction, unlike stamped X-pipes which are commonplace in the market. This hand-made 'X' is not only the focal point of the system in terms of aesthetics but also the star when it comes to the effects on the sound. Promoting even flow to both banks of tips, the 'X' removes unwanted nuances in sound caused by uneven exhaust flow found in stock systems. Along with the inherent benefit of increased volume by removal of the resonator, the Dinan X-Pipe for the F9x X5M/X6M produces a louder, smoother, and fuller exhaust note. The stock exhaust not on the X5/6M is already a glorious note but Dinan gave you even more control with this valved axle-back system. With enlarged pipes letting the 8-cylinder engine breathe better, showing up to +6hp! The valve system lets you dial back the tone of the exhaust when needs be but lets you unleash the S63's voice when you so desire. The system uses the OE valve system so they can be controlled through the M-driving settings through the cars onboard system so there is no need for an additional remote. All in all this axle-back system is a great upgrade to your beloved X5/6M!

Thus, removing as many exhaust flow restrictions as possible will increase horsepower and torque significantly. The factory catalytic converter found in the factory downpipe is a big culprit of this and is a major exhaust flow restriction. Evolution Racewerks use a 200 cell metallic core for their Sports Series High Flow Catted Downpipes. By having fewer cells per square inch, these individual "cells" are bigger in size thus allowing exhaust gas to pass through them more easily. Therefore, the lower the cell count, the higher the flow. Higher flow = more power, faster turbo spool up (less turbocharger lag) and better throttle response. Bottom line, faster. The benefits of a metallic catalytic converter vs a ceramic, like the factory, is that it can take higher temperatures and is more durable (last longer). They are also lighter than their ceramic counterparts. The Evolution Racewerks catted downpipe is constructed out of grade 304 stainless steel and utilizes mandrel bent 3" piping. They are 100% TIG welded by in-house fabricators and built in the USA. The factory turbocharger turbine housing utilizes a V-Band flange which has been duplicated and CNC machined cut out of billet 304 stainless steel. Stainless Steel CNC machined O2 sensor and laser cut brackets are TIG welded using stainless steel rods. The O2 sensor is positioned at the factory location.
