Often overlooked but never counted out are charged airflow characteristics. The way air enters the engine dictates how well the engine breathes and has a direct effect on throttle response, turbo lag, and maximum power. Smooth bends and minimal restriction are ideal; however, increasing boost levels necessitates the use of superior materials that can hold up to the pressure. This charge pipe kit from FTP motorsports will not only improve flow over stock but also make a big improvement in the reliability column. The factory charge pipes are made from plastic to reduce weight and manufacturing costs. While this is great for the production line and the sticker price, it doesn't hold up well as the engine ages or in the case of increased power. This set of pipes will not only allow the engine to hold more boost, but they will outlast the stock indefinitely. Aluminum is also a rigid material, meaning it doesn't deform or flex very easily. What this translates to is increased reliability since an aluminum pipe cant flex and decouple itself as plastic does. One more feature to note is the 1/8"NPT fitting in the throttle body pipe. This can be used as the perfect point for a methanol injector or port injection nozzle. Comes with a threaded plug to seal the port until it is needed. This system completely does away with the restrictive, and muli-connection stock charge pipe system, and replaces it with a single 6-ply, Heat Resistant, Wire reinforced silicone charge pipe rated at over 200 psi. They are molded for the perfect fit in your engine bay, while not sacrificing anything in the way of flow or size. They also completely isolate your charge air from any additional heat soak coming in from the engine or ambient heat. Another huge benefit is only TWO connections which are barbed and has many small ridges which dig into the silicone so it’s impossible for the pipe to blow off.

This N54 pipe has a flange installed to support a Turbosmart BOV.

This is the EASIEST N54 charge pipe on the market to install hands down. Install takes about half an hour even if you are inexperienced with working on your own car, can take as little as 15-20 minutes if you have had it apart a few times.

On turbocharged motors, the intake piping is put under constant pressure while the engine is running, and has to hold that pressure without leaking. Unfortunately the smallest amount of damage or defect on the intake hoses and the pressure can cause a leak, leaving you without proper boost pressure. Replace your leaking pressure pipe and stop loosing boost.
