BMW's B58 engine has been very successful and has proved to be a reliable powerplant that is highly capable of producing some crazy power figures. Unfortunately, in true BMW fashion, the B58 engine does have a few problems that can become serious issues if not addressed quickly. One of these issues is the oil filter housing cracking and leaking engine oil and/or coolant. BMW chose to construct the oil filter housing out of plastic and the housing tends to split if the cap is tightened too tight or even just over time as the plastic becomes brittle from numerous heat cycles. Another common failure point is the multiple gaskets that seal the housing to the engine block and between the housing and the engine oil cooler. when these seals fail, you will notice coolant and/or oil loss, or even the mixing of engine oil with coolant. There is also the possibility of your oil filter collapsing inside of the filter housing and preventing proper oil filtration and flow, sometimes clogging the small oil channels in your filter housing as the oil filter begins to fall apart. Though this is more common with vehicles that see extended oil change intervals, such as 12K+ mile oil changes, we have seen some failures as soon as 5,000 miles after an oil change! Whatever the cause may be, the solution is almost always the same, replacement of the whole oil filter housing. We have put together a kit including the basic components needed to replace your oil filter housing and get your BMW back on the road! Included: Bremmen Engine Oil Filter Housing - Includes a new cap, seals, oil cooler, and oil filter Genuine BMW Oil Cooler Mounting Hardware Genuine BMW Oil Drain Plug Gasket Elring Intake Manifold Gaskets Elring Throttle Body Gasket Bav Auto Transmission Fill Plug (For Automatic models) Genuine BMW Installation Hardware Not included in this kit are the fluids that will need to be replaced or topped off after the installation of your new oil filter housing, including engine oil, G48 or HT-12 coolant (depending on what your BMW came with from the factory), and automatic transmission fluid for models with the ZF 8HP transmission.

Stainless steel filtration is not a new technology but is quickly gaining popularity in the automotive segment. The K&P Engineering filter element is made from medical grade, type 304 stainless steel micronic filter cloth to provide unmatched protection against oil contamination and resultant engine damage. A one inch square of this material flows an incredible 1.9 gallons of oil per minute at only 1 PSI pump pressure. The adhesive used in the filter assembly process is good to 600 degrees Fahrenheit, far above normal engine operating temperatures. A super strength nickel-plated neodymium rare earth magnet is installed in the top of the element for magnetic pre-filtering of the oil. The sophisticated bypass is engineered for proper differential pressures and consistent operation, delivering a greater percentage of filtered oil while being very easy to clean. The twist lock design assures positive filter element placement and allows for easy disassembly, inspection, and cleaning. The quad-ring gasket doubles the seal between the filter and the engine. Finally, the filter housing is carved out of solid 6061T6 billet aluminum, which not only looks trick but aids in dissipating heat.
