ARP Flywheel Bolts are a premium grade 8740 alloy that is rated far superior to "aircraft" quality. Each stud is heat-treated, ensuring complete heat penetration, to increase the clamping load up to 200,000 psi. ARP studs are threaded after heat-treat, which gives them 1000% (that's ten times!) better fatigue strength than studs threaded prior to heat-treat. Threading the studs after heat-treating is more difficult and costly (as it's harder on tooling) but the results are well worth the effort. These simply are the best bolts we've found and we highly recommend them in any and all applications.

The pressure plate is precision balance for vibration free operation at high RPM. The pressure plate fulcrum is altered for a positive disengagement and a quick shift. The disc is engineered with a Dual Damped design to provide accurate control when accelerating through corners. The friction material is a hybrid using a full face Feramic (Sintered Iron) lining on the flywheel side and a high metal content Organic lining on the pressure plate side. Engagement is positive yet buffered due to the high graphite content unique to Feramic facings.

Engine builders prioritize lightweight flywheels when optimizing race engines for maximum efficiency, and the difference is especially noticeable in how quickly the engine revs and reaches its power band.

This JB Racing lightweight flywheel is a direct replacement for the stock flywheel and is compatible with the factory BMW organic clutch. This compatibility ensures that you can use standard replacement clutches, making maintenance simple and cost-effective. The flywheel can also be resurfaced for a fresh contact surface, so there’s no need to buy a new one when it’s time to replace the clutch.

While single-mass aluminum flywheels like this one may result in slightly more noise and vibration compared to dual-mass designs, this can be managed with heavier transmission oil and sprung hub clutches, such as the Sachs Performance clutch available through Turner Motorsport.
