Fitment Note: This section 1 is based on the Euro-spec exhaust system which is different than the US exhaust layout. It will bolt on to the Euro M5/M6 headers using the original 3-bolt flanges. The US exhaust has a different manifold and 2-bolt flanges.

One area where the US M5/M6 is different than a more-powerful Euro-spec model is in the exhaust. The US M5/M6 got a header design with smaller pipes that is more restrictive. These Supersprint headers are based on the Euro design (no longer available through BMW USA) but are slightly larger tubes for better performance. The stepped design is a favorite of M3 header designs and originated in Formula 1 engines. These headers also feature Supersprint's precision-engineered merge collectors on each bank that greatly improves exhaust flow and does not impede velocity.

Fitment note: this system is based on the Euro design with 3-bolt flanges (the US used 2-bolt flanges). You will need the factory Euro center section or the Supersprint center section for this to be a direct bolt on. Headers should be part of any M20 performance project or restoration. These Supersprint tubular headers are a larger diameter and have better flow than the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and they make more power. And since the stock headers are known to be brittle and can crack over time these make for an excellent upgrade replacement.
This header system mimics the stock exhaust after the header collectors. It uses the same 3-bolt flange as the original center resonator. This makes them a direct swap from the stock manifolds and downpipes and an easy fitment with the stock exhaust. To address this issue with heavily tuned, turbocharged, or supercharged E46 M3s, Supersprint now offers a new line of high performance Center Twin-Pipe Exhaust Pipes that are designed to provide you with a significantly higher exhaust flow than their original performance exhaust pipes, 787503 (Resonated) and 787513 (Non-Resonated), designed for street and light track performance.
This twin pipe system utilizes two high flow pipes instead of a single large pipe, allowing for up to 25% greater total exhaust flow. Thanks to the increased total flow, these center pipes are capable of supporting S54 engines producing over 400whp, perfect for all highly modified street cars or performance track vehicles.

The Supersprint X-Pipe will delete the set of resonators ahead of the rear mufflers. By removing the resonators, you can get more volume and growl from your exhaust as well as decrease exhaust restriction for slightly better power and torque. Deleting resonators makes a small but noticeable increase in overall volume so it's recommended that this is done after changing or removing mufflers. This x-pipe fits in section 2 of the exhaust - after the factory secondary cat section and before the rear mufflers. You will need to cut the original resonator section out of the exhaust and the Supersprint is clamped into place.

The Supersprint rear muffler for the 128i is a subtle sound and performance improvement for those that think the stock muffler is too tame. This sport rear muffler is a free-flowing design with larger piping to improve flow and tune the sound. This Supersprint front section deletes the stock front resonator on the 2004-2010 E60 545i and 550i models. The factory exhaust has two very large resonators to dampen exhaust noise so if you want a little more rip and growl this is a direct replacement for the first resonator that is bolted to the headers and then clamped with section 2 of the exhaust.

This Supersprint center section will delete the silencer/resonator in the stock exhaust and fit with the Supersprint sport rear muffler.
