These tuned resonators replace the factory resonator in section 2 of the exhaust. Supersprint also offers this section without any resonator at all. But if noise and volume is a strong consideration for you then using resonators is a good idea. If you were building a track car with headers and no cats then resonators will help keep noise levels low. This section is 309 stainless steel and 70mm diameter pipes (a little bigger than the factory size) so this piece will flow better and be a little louder than the factory resonator.

The stock headers on the Z8 are no different than what came on the BMW 540i and M5. Meaning, they're compromises for cost, sound, and fitment. This oversized section 2 pipe deletes the factory resonator to allow more sound to come from the exhaust. The factory resonator is there to make your BMW quieter and more 'refined'. But if you want more volume and to hear more of your engine, this is the perfect upgrade. This straight pipe is also less restrictive than a resonated pipe for more power and torque. It's a direct replacement for the stock section but must be used with a Supersprint M2 muffler.

The factory 35i exhaust system is pretty wide open with a minimal of restrictions - except for the catalytic converter. Supersprint metallic sport catalytic converters are sourced from HJS of Germany. For 30 years HJS has been supplying motorsports teams with sport cats when rules required them. HJS is now a worldwide leader in sport cat technology and performance. Rally cars, German DTM, and Formula 3 all rely on HJS for clean, reliable horsepower. Supersprint works closely with HJS to spec a catalytic converter that is correct for the vehicle and engine package. This allows for a substantial increase in flow but which, at the same time, keeps the environmental specs within European limits. With any high-flow catalytic converter, special software or other work may be required to keep emissions fault codes and check engine lights from displaying. Supersprint catalytic converters are sold for track and other off-road uses only.

This Supersprint section 2 replaces the center resonator in the 128i exhaust. By deleting resonators you can gain a little more volume from the exhaust. Supersprint's tubular stainless headers for the X5 4.8 N62 engine replace the very restrictive stock manifolds and cats. With less restriction creating better flow, and relocating the catalytic converters, Supersprint has been able to gain an additional 21hp and 38ft-lbs of torque. They've even patented their tubular header and collector design. These are a direct bolt on to the N62 engine and are designed to be used with the Supersprint metallic sport cats or as a cat-less system (straight pipes). Other pieces are recommended or required.

This Supersprint front section deletes the stock front resonator on the 2004-2010 E60 545i and 550i models. The factory exhaust has two very large resonators to dampen exhaust noise so if you want a little more rip and growl this is a direct replacement for the first resonator that is bolted to the headers and then clamped with section 2 of the exhaust.

One area where the US M5/M6 is different than a more-powerful Euro-spec model is in the exhaust. The US M5/M6 got a header design with smaller pipes that is more restrictive. These Supersprint headers are based on the Euro design (no longer available through BMW USA) but are slightly larger tubes for better performance. The stepped design is a favorite of M3 header designs and originated in Formula 1 engines. These headers also feature Supersprint's precision-engineered merge collectors on each bank that greatly improves exhaust flow and does not impede velocity.

Fitment note: this system is based on the Euro design with 3-bolt flanges (the US used 2-bolt flanges). You will need the factory Euro center section or the Supersprint center section for this to be a direct bolt on. We recommend using this with the full Supersprint system (front center pipes, rear center resonator, and rear muffler) for the easiest install and the best sound.

This tuned resonator replaces the factory center resonator. The oversized pipe allows exhaust gas to flow more freely which reduces the workload on the turbocharger, and freeing up power and torque (especially when combined with the Supersprint section 1 pipe). This resonated section is tuned to work with a Supersprint M2 muffler (a resonator-delete pipe is also available for more sound).

Headers should be part of any M20 performance project or restoration. These Supersprint tubular headers are a larger diameter and have better flow than the stock cast iron exhaust manifolds and they make more power. And since the stock headers are known to be brittle and can crack over time these make for an excellent upgrade replacement.
This header system mimics the stock exhaust after the header collectors. It uses the same 3-bolt flange as the original 323 center resonator. This makes them a direct swap from the stock manifolds and downpipes and an easy fitment for a 323 with the stock exhaust. Supersprint also makes a center resonator section and rear mufflers to build a complete system.

The Supersprint X-Pipe will delete the set of resonators ahead of the rear mufflers. By removing the resonators, you can get more volume and growl from your exhaust as well as decrease exhaust restriction for slightly better power and torque. Deleting resonators makes a small but noticeable increase in overall volume so it's recommended that this is done after changing or removing mufflers. This x-pipe fits in section 2 of the exhaust - after the factory secondary cat section and before the rear mufflers. You will need to cut the original resonator section out of the exhaust and the Supersprint is clamped into place.
