MSD Performance Coil Pack for MINI

Before ordering, check whether you need round or flat pin connectors for your MINI's coil pack. The type of pin is determined by the connectors that link the coil to the wiring harness. To check, slide the red locking tab to the right, press down on the tab, and pull the connector off the coil. Examine the pins to see if they are flat or round. Reattach the connector by pushing it back on until it clicks, then slide the red locking tab back to the locked position.

This high-performance coil pack is a popular upgrade among MINI owners looking to enhance their vehicle's performance over the stock coil. The installation requires removing the factory bolts from the old coil and modifying the MSD factory sleeves by drilling out 1/16" to fit the stock bolts.

Every 60-80,000 miles, we recommend replacing your spark plugs to ensure your ignition system is running optimally. Over time carbon can build up around the head of the spark plug and decrease spark strength and effectiveness, leading to weaker fuel mixture detonation, misfires, and potential check engine lights. Ignition coils are key to the efficiency and performance of your BMW. With a faulty coil the spark plug is not burning the air/fuel mixture properly and that can lead to problems anywhere in the engine and exhaust (including catalytic converters and O2 sensors). Problems with one or more coils will cause a fault code but not always a check engine light. A misfire code may be related to an ignition coil but could be from other things as well. Sometimes a visual inspection of a coil and coil boot will give an indication of a failure. You can also move coils around to different cylinder banks to see if the misfire code follows a suspect coil.

This is the OEM Bosch ignition coil pack for the M42 and M44 engines. It's sold as a pack of 4 coils that replaces the coil pack located on the right side strut tower.
