The stock Genuine BMW front "lower" control arms (31108095665 & 31108095666) are great for standard daily driving and occasional spirited driving, but they tend to fall flat on the track due to the soft rubber bushings causing excess deflection, creating undesirable handling characteristics. In order to address this issue, Turner now offers new Performance Adjustable Front Lower Control Arms! These control arms offer multiple benefits over stock control arms, helping to keep your BMW under control and on the track. In order to get the most out of your BMW M3/M4, these new control arms provide roll center, camber, and track width adjustment to dial in your alignment for optimal handling! Additionally, the ball joint angle has been corrected to allow for full articulation. Stainless Steel spacers are provided to correct roll center for lowered vehicles. The use of FK Rod Ends and High Misalignment Spherical Bearings eliminates the flex and binding found in the OEM control arms while allowing smooth articulation. Another great feature of these control arms is the Double Adjuster Lock Down. This allows camber and track width settings to be adjusted and locked in without the use of finicky jam nuts. This double adjuster is machined from 4130 Chromoly; gun-drilled to reduce weight, then electroless nickel plated for corrosion resistance. A ride height sensor bracket is also integrated to maintain factory ride height sensor location, regardless of the length of the arm to keep BMW's chassis electronics happy. Front Lower Control Arm Features: Lightweight 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum Electroless nickel plated 4130 Chromoly Double Adjuster for quick adjustment Correct ball joint angle for full articulation Rotating Clamp design allows for easy access to lock down alignment settings Low friction 3-piece Teflon lined FK spherical bushings and Heim joints/rod ends Multiple size Stainless Steel roll center spacers for precise adjustment Sold as a pair. Made in the USA.

BMW’s are known to have failure prone front thrust arm bushings.  The flexible rubber bushings, even those found in M performance models, allow significant movement of the front wheels to maximize daily driving comfort, but also allow considerable alignment change.  This results in a disconnected and numb road feel, standing between you and a confidence inspiring driving experience. Eventually the fluid filled rubber bushings fatigue and crack due to continual deflection and ozone degradation, and eventually the damping fluid leaks out resulting in complete failure.

For the enthusiast looking for superior performance and longevity with a crisp, confidence-inspiring driving experience, our sealed ball joint monoballs are the best solution available!  Our experience with spherical front control arm ball joints goes back to those we designed and used in our IMSA E90 328i and E92 M3 race cars (GS class Champions in 2011). We wanted to offer as many BMW owners possible a similar level of handling, precision, and control for the track and street.

Utilizing a sealed OEM BMW ball joint for exceptional quality and durability, making them completely at home on both the street and track with no compromise.  We have done extensive street, autocross, and track testing to ensure the ball joint used in this bushing design excels in each setting. The advantage of a sealed ball joint is that it eliminates all unwanted deflection while still allowing complete bind-free movement throughout suspension travel, resulting in exceptional control of wheel alignment.  What you get is superior steering precision, turn-in response, direct braking feedback, and better handling.

In short, if you're seeking the ultimate in precise, predictable handling and control, with crisp braking response and a long service life that’s equally at home on the street or track - look no further. We have you covered.

We offer these control arms with the monoball bearings pre-installed for your convenience. Since BMW recommends the control arms be replaced for every other bushing change, we prefer to sell these as a pre-assembled set. The bushings are also available separately if you wish to source your own control arms.

Control arm bushings play a key role in connecting the wheels to the chassis of the vehicle. Tasked with keeping suspension geometry in check while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber bushings were engineered to provide a balance of comfort and control. As a factory bushing ages, it becomes brittle and begins to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play in the suspension joint. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk forward after the car comes to a stop and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushing with a full polyurethane unit or using a bushing insert, this play is eliminated since the suspension joint is being supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

Powerflex Black Series bushings are the ultimate in track and race bushings. Featuring 95A durometer polyurethane, Black Series bushings are 25% stiffer than street bushings. Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved steering feel, turn in, more responsive handling and overall improved chassis composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings.

Poweflex is a leading manufacturer of aftermarket suspension bushings. Using state of the art design and manufacturing, all replacement bushings are engineered to out-perform and out-last the ones that came in the car. Each line of bushings is meticulously tested and then re-tested to ensure perfect fitment and enduring quality through the life of the vehicle. A full lifetime warranty backs every one of their products and demonstrates the level of confidence and commitment Powerflex has to their customers.

This lower front control arm (BMW also calls it a wishbone) is a direct replacement for the original part and is the OEM Lemforder brand. Control arms, and their integrated ball joints, are some of the most crucial components on a BMW suspension. The control arms literally control the wheel and suspension as they go through their range of motions. A faulty or worn control arm or ball joint is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening problem so make sure they are inspected and replaced at regular intervals. For a street-driven car we advise yearly inspection and a full replacement every 3-4 years. For track-driven cars these should be inspected before every event and replaced every two years.

OEM Lemförder is an engineering company that focuses on high-quality, precision manufacturing of critical suspension and steering components. Providing exceptionally high quality parts directly to BMW, as well as 50+ other big name automotive companies, such as Mercedes and Audi, their history of reliability and variety of offered parts makes them one of the biggest names for a go-to OEM parts provider. Lemförder parts place an important emphasis on design, production, and assembly, ensuring maximum reliability. They even coat all parts possible with corrosion protection for extended longevity.

As a leading source of high performance BMW parts and accessories since 1993, we at Turner Motorsport are honored to be the go-to supplier for tens of thousands of enthusiasts the world over. With over two decades of parts, service, and racing experience under our belt, we provide only quality performance and replacement parts.  All of our performance parts are those we would (and do!) install and run on our own cars, as well as replacement parts that are Genuine BMW or from OEM manufacturers. We only offer parts we know you can trust to perform!

BMW E46 Turner Motorsport Front Control Arm Performance Kit: Upgrade Your BMW's Handling

  • Improves handling and steering response
  • Enhances cornering stability and control
  • Reduces flex and play in the front suspension
  • Durable construction ensures long-lasting performance

Enhance the performance of your BMW with the BMW E46 Turner Motorsport Front Control Arm Performance Kit. This kit is designed to improve handling and steering response, providing a more dynamic driving experience. With enhanced cornering stability and control, you'll feel confident taking on corners and curves. The kit also reduces flex and play in the front suspension, resulting in improved overall handling characteristics. Plus, its durable construction ensures long-lasting performance, making it a reliable upgrade for BMW enthusiasts.

When you're looking for a control arm upgrade for your M3 this Turner Motorsport package is unrivaled, featuring their popular monoball bearing to replace the failure prone rubber bushing. The upgrades for this product aren't only that they will outlast everything else you can put on your car. These monoballs offer much smoother, more responsive steering that allows the front control arm to articulate more naturally instead of fighting against the suspension causing deflection.

Stock rubber front control arm bushings are designed to allow significant fore/aft movement of the front wheels to help absorb road impacts.  This soft flexible design maximizes daily driving comfort and helps to add the “luxury” feeling to your BMW, but it is far from ideal for the performance or racing enthusiast that is looking for optimal handling and braking performance.  Being a bonded rubber bushing that is constantly twisting and deflecting when in use, stock rubber bushings take a beating and often fail prematurely, resulting in further degraded handling, braking shimmy or even clunking felt under your feet.

In the past, the only upgrade option to improve handling of your E46 M3 was to replace the stock rubber with poly bushings, or delrin bushings that wear prematurely and are not serviceable or rebuild-able.  While well-designed poly bushings can vastly improve handling characteristics and offer good road feel with minimal increase to NVH, they are still a compromise when it comes to ultimate handling and braking performance.

Introducing the new Turner Front Control Arm Spherical Bearings!  The Turner engineering team set out to design a no-compromise solution that requires no modification and offers instantaneous cornering and braking response.  Our control arm bearings utilize a unique grease-able spherical bearing that is both serviceable and replaceable, with integrated dust seals to help keep dirt and moisture out.  This bearing offers considerable improvement in both precision and durability compared to other unsealed poly and delrin bushing inserts previously available, which can wear prematurely due to contamination.  The bearing assembly utilizes the highest quality materials, precision machining quality, and components to ensure a perfect fit and longest lasting component life possible.

The result is the ultimate in terms of low friction, no binding, and no unwanted deflection, as well as exceptional steering precision, turn-in response, and direct braking feedback with minimal increase in NVH.  These spherical bearings are a must have for any track car, but are also completely street-able and are a great upgrade for any enthusiast that enjoys spirited driving.

There's finally an option to buy housings separate from the bushings, this way you don't have to live with the stress placed on the stock housings when pressing the old bushing out. The biggest benefit come in when there isn't already a pre-pressed in option for poly and spherical upgrades, this leaves the only option of pressing the old bushings out. Through out in-house testing when designing our poly and spherical upgrades we noticed that pressing the bushing out caused stress in some cases creating hairline cracks in the housing leaving it vulnerable to failure.

The stock Genuine BMW front "upper" control arms (31108095667 & 31108095668) are great for standard daily driving and occasional spirited driving, but tend to fall flat on the track due to the soft rubber bushings causing excess deflection, creating undesirable handling characteristics. In order to address this issue, Turner now offers new Performance Front Tension Rods with upgraded FK Spherical Bearings! These tension rods offer multiple benefits over stock control arms, helping to keep your BMW under control and on the track. The biggest upgrade over the stock control arm is the replacement of the rubber bushing with JMX hardened Teflon-lined low-friction FK Spherical Bearings. This allows for smooth control arm articulation, without the standard mushy feel you'd expect from rubber bushings. As a result, you get a more responsive feel that inspires confidence lap after lap! The PTFE liner is chemically bonded to the inner diameter of the race. The liner offers a very high load carrying capacity and has greatly increased dynamic wear characteristics, offering robust reliability for both street and track use. Another benefit of these Performance Tension Rods is increased caster adjustment, allowing precise alignment for optimal turn-in response and to compensate for variances between left and right caster. Adjustable Tension Rod Features: Gun drilled and Blue Anodized 2024 Aluminum links to reduce unsprung weight Rotating 6061-T6 Aluminum Clamp design Hardened JMX high misalignment low friction 3-piece Teflon lined FK Heim joints/rod ends Stainless steel anti-dive spacers ASTM A574 socket head cap bolts are used for maximum articulation with a minimum tensile strength of 170,000 psi Sold as a pair.

Our experience with spherical front control arm ball joints go back to those we designed and used in our IMSA E90 328i and E92 M3 racecars (GS class Champions in 2011).  We wanted to offer E31, E32, E34, E38, E39, E53, E60, E63, E64, and E83 owners similar levels of handling precision and control for the track and street.

The bearing housing is precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 anodized aluminum and features a knurled OD to ensure a perfect press fit, and utilize a sealed OEM BMW ball joint for exceptional quality and durability, making them completely at home on both the street and track with no compromise.

Control Arm Bearing

  • CNC machined corrosion resistant 304 Stainless steel shell, bolt sleeves, & snap rings
  • Sealed spherical ball joint for long service life & maintained OE fitment
  • Suspension pre-load is no longer required when torquing the control arm hardware

Thrust Arm Bearing:

  • OEM BMW sealed, greased ball joint for exceptional durability and service life, even in the most severe operating conditions
  • 6061-T6 anodized housing for excellent corrosion resistance
  • Proprietary Turner designed knurled OD to provide the perfect fit for the wide range of thrust arm bore diameters among brands
  • CNC machined 304ss, providing a precision fit between the ball joint and the subframe

Benefits of Both:

  • Nearly instantaneous, crisp steering and braking response.
  • Maintenance free, long lasting performance.
  • Improved road feel without undesirable NVH.

Fits the following BMW models:

2004+ E83 X3 X3 2.5i, X3 3.0i, X3 3.0si, X3 xDrive30i

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car?

This upper front control arm (BMW may call it a wishbone) comes with the inner bushings and is a direct replacement for the original part, made by Febi-Bilstein.

This arm includes the outer ball joint and inner rubber bushing.

Over the years, the road takes a serious toll on your suspension. Pot holes, speed bumps, and road hazards all contribute to a sloppy, weak suspension. To give a better feel to your driving experience, change components as they wear to improve safety and ride comfort.

One item to replace is the control arm. After years of service, the non-serviceable ball joints and other components can begin to wear out. Because some components cannot be replaced, the only solution is replacement of the entire arm.

If replacing any part of your front or rear suspension, it is best to either do it in pairs (both left and right sides), or examine parts that are prone to failure. This will provide the most service life out of replacement parts and assure they are all performing properly.

Referred to as a wishbone by BMW.

Stock rubber control arm bushings give a disconnected and mushy feel to the front suspension, especially when worn, as the bushing deflects more than it should. You get sloppy steering, vibrations, and poor handling which makes the car feel unstable. These urethane bushings are stiffer than stock rubber and will not deflect as much. This helps keep the alignment in check with less variation. The car feels more planted and confidence-inspiring. And a lifetime warranty means you'll likely never have to pay for another bushing ever again! Powerflex polyurethane subframe bushings are firmer than OEM bushings, resulting in better handling, a more planted rear-end, and more efficient suspension articulation - all with minimal sacrifice to ride quality. Powerflex is the number one selling suspension bushing manufacturer in Europe. Their experience with polyurethane bushing material and state-of-the art manufacturing techniques allows them to produce premium performance bushings, made to exact-fit standards. Powerflex performance polyurethane bushings are built to last longer than OEM rubber bushings, while improving performance and allowing for a more engaging driving experience. Use of Powerflex Copper Grease PCG1 is recommended for ease of installation. Periodic reapplication is recommended to extend squeak-free service life of bushings. Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car? Powerflex Black Series bushings are the ultimate in track and race bushings. Featuring 95A durometer polyurethane, Black Series bushings are 25% stiffer than street bushings. Powerflex is proud to offer a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser on all products.

SPL Parts products are all constructed using chromoly seamless straight tubing, DOM mandrel bent tubing, and 6061 and 2024 aluminum for high strength and quality. All TIG welding and CNC machining is also done locally by professional welders and machine shops to meet exact quality standards and tolerance specifications. For anything from racing to street driven needs, SPL Parts offer an amazing line of premium quality products that are perfect to get your car back in spec.

These SPL front lower control arms open up a wide range of adjustment for roll center, camber, and track width adjustment and allow for full articulation with the correct ball joint angle. Instead of using traditional jam nuts, the main arm is slotted to allow the use of pinch bolts and SPL rotating clamps on their exclusive adjuster, making it easier to lock in track width and camber specifications.

The Powerflex Front Control Arm Rear Bushing (Caster Offset) for the BMW F48, F49 X1, and F39 X2 is a premium suspension upgrade designed to improve handling, steering feel, and suspension durability. These bushings replace the factory-installed rubber bushings, which are prone to wear and deflection over time, with high-quality polyurethane bushings that deliver enhanced performance and longevity.

Key Features:

  1. Caster Offset Design:

    • The bushing features a caster offset, meaning it slightly adjusts the position of the control arm to increase the vehicle’s caster angle. This improved geometry enhances the car's straight-line stability and helps maintain better steering feel during cornering. The result is sharper turn-in, better directional control, and a more responsive overall driving experience.
  2. Superior Material – Polyurethane:

    • Powerflex uses high-performance polyurethane, which is much more durable than standard rubber bushings. Polyurethane bushings resist degradation from oil, road grime, and temperature extremes, making them ideal for both daily driving and high-performance applications.
    • Benefits of Polyurethane:
      • Reduced Flex and Deflection: Offers a firmer connection between the control arm and chassis, reducing unwanted movement in the suspension and improving steering accuracy.
      • Extended Lifespan: Compared to the stock rubber bushings, these will last significantly longer, making them a solid investment for long-term performance and reliability.
      • Improved Handling: The reduced flex and firmer construction mean that the suspension responds more precisely to driver inputs, improving overall handling and cornering stability.
  3. Applications:

    • BMW X1 (F48, F49): This model is BMW’s compact luxury crossover SUV. The Powerflex bushings provide better handling, making the X1 more responsive and stable, especially at higher speeds or during spirited driving.
    • BMW X2 (F39): Known for its sportier, coupe-like stance, the X2 benefits from the improved geometry and stiffer bushing, resulting in even sharper steering and enhanced cornering ability, further emphasizing its sport-focused character.
  4. Improved Caster Angle:

    • The increased caster angle results in a more self-centering steering feel, providing better directional stability at high speeds, and enhancing control during cornering. This is especially beneficial for drivers who seek a more engaging driving experience or who use their BMW for spirited driving or track days.
  5. Performance and Practicality:

    • These bushings aren’t just for performance enthusiasts. Even for daily driving, they offer improvements in steering feedback and stability. The added durability ensures that your suspension components last longer, making it a worthwhile upgrade even for those who don’t push their cars to the limit.
  6. Professional Installation Recommended:

    • Installing these bushings requires removing the control arms and pressing out the old bushings. Since the caster offset alters the suspension geometry, a professional alignment is also recommended post-installation to ensure optimal performance.
