Sway bars transmit cornering forces from the outside wheels to the inside wheels, helping to keep the vehicle flat during cornering. This in turn reduces body roll and improves the driver's cornering confidence. OEM rubber sway bar bushings are designed with comfort in mind, allowing the sway bar to articulate while permitting additional movement, leading to less-than-ideal bar retention and causes unnecessary body roll.

Powerflex polyurethane sway bar bushings are firmer than factory rubber bushings, reducing body roll and keeping sway bars in check. Polyurethane bushings won't slop around like OEM bushings, allowing sway bars to function at their fullest potential.

Poweflex is a leading manufacturer of aftermarket suspension bushings. Using state of the art design and manufacturing, all replacement bushings are engineered to out-perform and out-last the ones that came in the car. Each line of bushings is meticulously tested and then re-tested to ensure perfect fitment and enduring quality through the life of the vehicle. A full lifetime warranty backs every one of their products and demonstrates the level of confidence and commitment Powerflex has to their customers.

Control arm bushings play a key role in connecting the wheels to the chassis of the vehicle. Tasked with keeping suspension geometry in check while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber bushings were engineered to provide a balance of comfort and control. As a factory bushing ages, it becomes brittle and begins to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play in the suspension joint. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk forward after the car comes to a stop and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushing with a full polyurethane unit or using a bushing insert, this play is eliminated since the suspension joint is being supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car? Powerflex Black Series bushings are the ultimate in track and race bushings. Featuring 95A durometer polyurethane, Black Series bushings are 25% stiffer than street bushings. Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved steering feel, turn in, more responsive handling and overall improved chassis composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings.

Differential bushings are responsible for keeping the differential in solid alignment while dampening drivetrain vibration. While OE rubber bushings are fine when they are new from the factory, aged and worn out rubber bushings create a multitude of issues that can range from annoying to dangerous. As a factory bushing ages, it begins to harden and become brittle. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow for movement at the differential mounting point. At this point, the differential is free to shift under load causing a noticeable clunking noise under acceleration and deceleration and massively increasing the stress on the driveshaft and axles. Manual transmissions suffer the worst from this as it can make shifting difficult since the differential will shift when the clutch is engaged and disengaged.

By replacing these bushings with full polyurethane, the movement is eliminated since the mounting point is supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. This means less stress on the driveshaft and axles and greater longevity of supporting components.

Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane differential bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved acceleration response, more direct shifting feel and overall improved drivetrain composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane bushings.

The Powerflex silicone grease is the only lubricant we suggest for long, squeak free operation. The lubricant contains silicone that resists heat and water and keeps a more constant viscosity to allow it to stay in the bushing as temperatures increase. The lubricant also does not lose it's lubrication properties over time like an anti-seize type lubricant. Each pack will lube 2 large bushings or 4 small.

The Powerflex Rear Sway Bar Bushings for the BMW E30, E28, and E24 with a 13mm sway bar are engineered to enhance rear-end stability and handling by replacing the stock rubber bushings with durable polyurethane. This upgrade helps to maximize the sway bar's efficiency, delivering a more responsive and controlled ride.

Key Features:

  1. Enhanced Stability in Turns: Firmer polyurethane construction minimizes sway bar flex, giving more control and reducing body roll during cornering.
  2. Extended Lifespan: Unlike rubber, these bushings resist cracking, degradation, and wear caused by exposure to oil, moisture, and heat.
  3. Sharper Handling Response: The rigid material creates a more direct link between the sway bar and chassis, providing a firmer, more planted feel on the road.
  4. Direct Fit for 13mm Sway Bars: Custom-designed for BMW models with a 13mm rear sway bar, ensuring accurate fitment and easy installation.

This upgrade is ideal for BMW owners seeking to improve handling precision and sway bar longevity, whether for spirited street driving or light track use.

The Powerflex Rear Sway Bar Bushing - 18.5 mm Street for the BMW X3 (2003-2010) is a premium suspension upgrade designed to replace the factory rubber bushings with high-performance polyurethane. This bushing specifically fits rear sway bars with a 18.5 mm diameter, providing better durability and handling for street-focused driving.

Product Features:

  1. High-Quality Polyurethane: These bushings are constructed from polyurethane, a material that offers superior resistance to wear, heat, and common contaminants like oil and road debris. Polyurethane bushings are known for maintaining their shape and function far longer than OEM rubber bushings, making them an ideal choice for drivers looking for durability and performance.

  2. 18.5 mm Fitment: This bushing is specifically designed for sway bars with an 18.5 mm diameter, ensuring a precise and snug fit on the rear sway bar of the BMW X3 (E83). Proper fitment is crucial for effective performance and stability improvements.

  3. Street Performance Optimized: While firmer than rubber bushings, Powerflex’s Street series is designed to offer a balance between comfort and performance. These bushings help reduce body roll and sway during cornering, providing better handling and control without making the ride too harsh for everyday driving.

  4. Improved Handling and Stability: By reducing the flex in the sway bar, these bushings limit unnecessary movement in the suspension, improving the vehicle’s overall stability. This results in more predictable handling during turns and reduced body roll, which enhances driver confidence in both normal and spirited driving conditions.

  5. Direct Replacement for Easy Installation: The Powerflex Rear Sway Bar Bushing is designed as a direct replacement for the factory-installed rubber bushings. No additional modifications are necessary, and the kit fits directly into the existing suspension setup for straightforward installation.

  6. Longer Lifespan: Polyurethane bushings are resistant to common issues that plague rubber bushings, such as cracking, deterioration, and deformation due to heat or pressure. This ensures that the suspension performs consistently over time and reduces the need for frequent maintenance or replacement.

Benefits:

  • Sharper Handling: Reduces body roll for more controlled and confident cornering.
  • Enhanced Durability: Polyurethane lasts much longer than rubber, making it a cost-effective upgrade.
  • Street Comfort: Provides improved performance without sacrificing ride quality, perfect for daily driving.
  • Corrosion and Wear Resistance: Resistant to road contaminants and wear, ensuring longer-lasting performance.

Compatible Models:

  • BMW X3 (E83) (2003-2010)

Upgrading to the Powerflex Rear Sway Bar Bushing - 18.5 mm Street for the BMW X3 is an excellent choice for those looking to enhance their vehicle’s handling characteristics without sacrificing comfort. Ideal for everyday use, this bushing is a perfect balance of performance and longevity, delivering a better driving experience on the street.

Factory-issued rubber sway bar bushings are engineered for commuter comfort, meaning they are prone to significant deflection under lateral loads. Over time, environmental exposure and hard cornering cycles cause these rubber units to soften, stretch, and perish, leading to unpredicted handling characteristics, delayed steering response, and vagueness at the limit.
