Oiling System

The N54/N55 are the powerhouses of BMW, one of the most common tuning platforms, and a fan favorite for spirited driving. Being an N54/N55 owner you know that oil temps can get out of hand leaving you with an anxious feeling and the needle a little too close to the red on your gauge cluster. What if you could get the oil flowing faster, maintain lower temperatures, and still have proper engine warm-up?

Upgrade your N54/N55 engine with our Billet oil cooler housing, replacing the underperforming factory-cast aluminum unit. Engineered for enhanced performance and a blended aesthetic, our Turner oil cooler housing features an OEM+ black anodized finish and our own engineered lower-temperature thermostat. Unlike makeshift solutions like thermostat bypass kits, our housing integrates an OE thermostat, ensuring a gradual yet expedited engine warm-up process, similar to factory settings but faster.

Out goes the factory 110-degree Celsius (230F) thermostat, replaced by our 70-degree Celsius (158F) counterpart. This new thermostat triggers oil flow a significant 72 degrees Fahrenheit earlier than the factory version. This early flow translates into prolonged lower oil temperatures for both the oil cooler and engine, maintaining a happier, healthier engine with consistently lower operating temperatures.

For N54 owners seeking to use the full potential of their tuned or modified engines, our upgraded housing and thermostat are must-have additions, especially for those who frequent the track or enjoy spirited drives on winding roads. Even if you're not pushing your motor to its limits, this upgrade significantly enhances reliability. With rising oil temperatures, the risk of oil breakdown rises, resulting in compromised lubrication, more engine deposits, and increased wear over time. Our solution addresses these concerns, protecting your engine's longevity and performance, regardless of your driving style.

For vehicles equipped with the factory oil cooler, our housing offers a multitude of advantages and is a direct replacement for the OEM unit. If your vehicle lacks a factory oil cooler, this presents an ideal chance to upgrade your setup with our housing, enabling the addition of a factory cooler for enhanced performance and increased reliability. Our primary objective is to maintain optimal oil temperatures, ensuring proper lubrication for the engine's internal components, in turn prolonging their lifespan.

Features:

Thermostat - 40 degrees Celsius/ 72 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the factory unit Billet aluminum to replace the raw cast aluminum factory housing Optional cooler capability for cars without an OEM oil cooler Utilizes the lower temp thermostat to circulate oil sooner rather than an always open solution which inhibits warm-up Combine with OEM oil cooler to add cooling capacity to your FBO N54/N55 or replace the stock housing for a cooling upgrade using your existing cooler Replaceable thermostat and gaskets for easy maintenance Quick easy installation Kit Contents:

Our upgraded oil cooler housing was designed, engineered, tested, and quality inspected by our Research and Development team at Turner. Nothing but the highest level of precision and quality through leading-edge product development technology including FARO laser scanning for reverse engineering and quality inspection, SolidWorks 3D CAD modeling, rapid prototyping utilizing our in-house 3D printer, and rigorous long-term product testing.

When we designed this catch we wanted to have the most function options available, the best separation method, and the easiest to service. The Turner engineered catch cans offer a pre-setup design based ion desired flow direction, however this does not limit you to this flow. The inner baffle orientation can be easily adjusted to flow in both directions in case you decide to move this catch can to a different vehicle. A 4 chamber system  baffle system inside the catch can was engineered to create multiple changes in the direction of airflow within the separator to cause oil droplets to fall out of suspension before exiting the catch can. Having a closed / recirculated design reduces oil ingestion and promotes cleaner emissions and odor-less operation.

Our catch can was also designed with the idea that the cans fill level can easily be checked with a top mounted dipstick and an optional use bottom drain hole. The drain system comes complete with a valve and hose to be mounted at a lower area of the vehicle so when you're doing an oil change you can drain the catch can.

Features:

• 6061-T6 billet machined body, anodized black for lasting protection and appearance
• Strategically positioned 4 chamber baffle system maximizes oil / air separation
• Knurled and black anodized oil dipstick makes inspecting oil volume of reservoir clean and simple
• Sealed with a pre-installed viton O-Ring
• Includes 2.5mm allen key to remove baffle plates for cleaning
• Engineered to create multiple changes in the direction of airflow within the separator to cause oil droplets to fall out of suspension before exiting the catch can
• Closed / recirculated design reduces oil ingestion and promotes cleaner emissions and odor-less operation
• Optional use drain hole - drain kit included!
• Universal mounting kit
