Control arm bushings play a key role in connecting the wheels to the chassis of the vehicle. Tasked with keeping suspension geometry in check while absorbing noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) factory rubber bushings were engineered to provide a balance of comfort and control. As a factory bushing ages, it becomes brittle and begins to harden. When this happens the bushing will actually shrink and allow excess play in the suspension joint. This is typically felt by a sudden jerk forward after the car comes to a stop and is a leading cause of "sloppy" or "loose" suspension feel. By replacing the bushing with a full polyurethane unit or using a bushing insert, this play is eliminated since the suspension joint is being supported by a much stiffer material that will not harden or shrink over time. Additionally, the inherent stiffness of the urethane material translates body forces much more directly. This means steering inputs from the driver are effectively transferred to the wheels and vital road information is transmitted properly from the wheels to the driver.

Powerflex street bushings are ideal for street driven vehicles and those that see occasional autocross or track time. Need bushings for a dedicated track car? Powerflex Black Series bushings are the ultimate in track and race bushings. Featuring 95A durometer polyurethane, Black Series bushings are 25% stiffer than street bushings. Engineered to perform, Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings offer a supreme level of control, while still providing enough comfort for the street, with advanced polyurethane that reduces NVH that often accompanies lesser bushings. Expect improved steering feel, turn in, more responsive handling and overall improved chassis composure with Powerflex performance polyurethane control arm bushings.

Sway bars transmit cornering forces from the outside wheels to the inside wheels, helping to keep the vehicle flat during cornering. This in turn reduces body roll and improves the driver's cornering confidence. OEM rubber sway bar bushings are designed with comfort in mind, allowing the sway bar to articulate while permitting additional movement, leading to less-than-ideal bar retention and causes unnecessary body roll.

Powerflex polyurethane sway bar bushings are firmer than factory rubber bushings, reducing body roll and keeping sway bars in check. Polyurethane bushings won't slop around like OEM bushings, allowing sway bars to function at their fullest potential.

In professional motorsport, chassis predictability and geometric stability are non-negotiable. Standard factory rubber bushings are designed for low-frequency compliance, but under dynamic loading, they suffer from significant deflection. This deflection distorts your suspension geometry, slows down anti-roll bar transition times, and masks critical feedback from the rear axle.

  • Fitment: Designed to perfectly fit BMW E38 7 Series (1994-2001) and E39 5 Series (1996-2003) models equipped with a 25mm front sway bar.
  • Material: Made from high-performance polyurethane, which is much more durable and resistant to deterioration than the standard rubber bushings.
  • Size: Specifically crafted for vehicles with a 25mm diameter front sway bar.
  • Handling Improvement: The polyurethane construction provides superior stiffness compared to stock rubber bushings, which translates to reduced body roll during aggressive cornering, more precise steering feedback, and enhanced vehicle stability.
  • Longevity: Unlike rubber, polyurethane is highly resistant to wear, chemical exposure, and extreme temperatures, ensuring these bushings will last significantly longer while maintaining consistent performance.
  • Comfort: Engineered to minimize noise and vibrations, ensuring that the ride quality remains smooth, despite the increase in suspension firmness.
  • Installation: A direct replacement for OEM bushings, making installation simple with no need for additional modifications.

These 25mm sway bar bushings are a great upgrade for drivers looking to improve their BMW's cornering performance and overall handling, especially in demanding driving conditions.

The BMW 1502-2002 Front Lower Arm Outer Bushing is a crucial component of the suspension system for classic BMW models produced from 1962 to 1977. This bushing connects the front lower control arm to the wheel hub, ensuring proper alignment and allowing for smooth suspension movement.

Key Features:

  1. Purpose:

    • The outer bushing helps absorb road shocks and vibrations while maintaining the suspension's geometry. This contributes to better handling, stability, and overall ride quality.
  2. Material Options:

    • Typically made from rubber, which provides a comfortable ride. However, many enthusiasts opt for polyurethane bushings due to their superior durability and performance benefits. Polyurethane reduces flex, leading to improved handling and responsiveness.
  3. Enhanced Handling:

    • Worn or degraded bushings can result in loose steering, uneven tire wear, and compromised handling. Replacing these bushings restores the original driving dynamics of the 1502-2002, providing a more connected and stable driving experience.
  4. Compatibility:

    • Specifically designed for the BMW 1502-2002 models, these bushings ensure a precise fit and optimal performance for these classic vehicles, allowing owners to maintain their distinctive driving characteristics.
  5. Upgrade Potential:

    • Many drivers choose to upgrade to polyurethane bushings, which offer increased stiffness and resistance to wear, enhancing the vehicle's handling and reducing the need for frequent replacements.
  6. Installation Considerations:

    • Installing new outer bushings typically requires removing the control arm from the suspension system. While it can be a DIY project for experienced mechanics, professional installation is recommended to ensure proper alignment and performance.

Benefits of Replacement or Upgrade:

  • Restored Steering Accuracy: New bushings improve steering feel and response, allowing for more precise handling.
  • Improved Ride Comfort: Fresh bushings absorb road imperfections better, resulting in a smoother driving experience.
  • Durability and Longevity: Upgrading to polyurethane provides longer-lasting performance, reducing the frequency of maintenance.

In summary, the Front Lower Arm Outer Bushing for the BMW 1502-2002 is essential for maintaining the vehicle's suspension integrity and driving characteristics. Whether replacing worn-out bushings or upgrading to polyurethane, ensuring these components are in good condition is vital for optimal performance and comfort in these classic BMWs.
