Dinan Adjustable Spring Sets feature stiffer springs and an innovative perch system that allows the ride height to be fine-tuned even with stock shocks. Dinan Performance springs are slightly lower but stiffer for better handling and less body roll yet still remain comfortable for normal use. They have carefully engineered the springs to work within the rates of the stock shocks, providing unmatched handling, looks, and ride quality. Adjustable spring perches give you the ability to keep your stock shocks (even EDC) but lower the ride height and set the perfect stance. This is hugely beneficial when using larger wheels and tires where a standard spring drop will not give you the look you desire. Dinan coil over springs include a threaded collar that fits over the stock strut body in the front and an adjustable perch in the rear. The front control arm bushings are a key piece of the suspension. They are constantly in motion and take abuse from impacts, potholes, rough roads, and general cornering/wheel motions. To give a quiet and smooth ride, the bushings are made of rubber with a metal sleeve insert. But the rubber can only withstand so much abuse before they become loose and spongy. This results in vibrations and possibly a shimmy when driving. A visual inspection will usually confirm that there is too much flex in the rubber or the rubber has cracked and torn. And if you're installing new control arms, always install new bushings to avoid duplicating labor costs.

Lemforder
This control arm upgrade was used on the high-performance 330i ZHP Performance Package and offered by BMW as a sport retrofit. These arms are identical dimensions as the regular arms so they are a direct replacement. But they have all metal ball joints instead of plastic or rubber. This means they last a lot longer and are much stronger. We used these in our Grand Am and World Challenge E46 racecars with excellent performance.

This is the main rear upper control arm (or wishbone) for the E39 5-series. It helps to locate the wheel hub and keep the alignment in check. It has an inner rubber bushing and outer ball joint. When these wear out the rear suspension becomes less stable and 'planted' than before. You may also notice a clunking noise when going over bumps. Since this is just one piece in the rear suspension you may also want to check the other rear control arms.
