Also known as a shock damper, the accessory belt tensioner is used to tension the air conditioning compressor belt. This ensures proper contact with the belt drive pulleys and prevents premature wear from improper tension.
If your belt is wearing prematurely or has excess slack, your belt tensioner may be to blame. Replace it with this high-quality Bremmen Parts tensioner to ensure proper tension and air conditioning functionality.

Is your BMW making a chirping or grinding noise at idle? The culprit is frequently a failing alternator decoupler pulley. Unlike a traditional solid pulley, this Overrunning Alternator Pulley (OAP) allows the alternator rotor to "freewheel" when engine speeds drop suddenly. This specialized function protects your BMW drive belt and belt tensioner from excessive snap-back, vibration, and "belt slap."
Prevent Catastrophic Engine Failure
Over time, the internal clutch mechanism can seize or slip, leading to accelerated wear or total serpentine belt failure. On BMW engines, a snapped belt can be ingested through the front main seal, causing catastrophic engine damage. Replacing this pulley is a cost-effective preventative maintenance step that restores smoothness to your accessory drive without the high cost of a complete alternator replacement.
Features & Benefits:
Lowers the load on the drive belt, tensioner, and AC compressor.
Stops "belt slap" and rhythmic chirping noises during deceleration and idle.
Direct Replacement with high-quality construction ensures perfect fitment and long-term durability.
Essential Maintenance for N52 engines

This pulley is mounted along with the hydraulic belt tensioner but can be replaced on its own. It is used for the main drive belt on the M50-M54 family engines (M50, M50TU, M52, S52, M52TU, M54, M56, and S54 engines). This is the same belt that covers the water pump/alternator/power steering systems. Replacement is a very easy procedure (requires fan removal) and will have your engine purring in no time. Belt replacement is strongly recommended at the same time. If you have a mechanical belt tensioner, the pulley can only be replaced with a new tensioner.
This high-quality replacement from Bremmen Parts is designed for exact fitment on your BMW. Whether you're looking to complete much-needed preventative maintenance, or replacing a failed roller, choose this component from Bremmen Parts for a lasting repair.
