Dinan High Flow Cold Air Intake Systems develop horsepower and torque gains by improving the engine's intake airflow. The aggressive system design provides for a less restrictive intake airflow than the stock system for greater engine efficiency and the lowest possible intake air temperatures. The Intake Systems replace the factory air box with a cylindrical performance filter and carbon fiber intake pipe. The filter is relocated to a separate compartment behind the front bumper and below the headlights in order to insulate it from engine compartment heat and maximize exposure to outside air. The filter to airflow meter pipe is designed to minimize air turbulence and maximize efficiency. The newest version of the system goes back to its carbon fiber roots for a more showroom worthy appearance complete with an embossed Dinan logo. This revised logo a marked improvement over the inset Mylar decal that was prone to marring after decades of use on the original E36 CF intake. The M440i/M340i is an impressive car in terms of performance and style but that is not conveyed when viewing its lackluster stock intake system swaddled by seemingly unfinished strut braces. In stock trim, the M440i/M340i comes with a dry and lifeless airbox housing a basic panel filter that is also accompanied by an intake resonator whose job it is to eliminate turbo/intake noises. The same noises that those in the performance world relish. Essentially BMW has seen fit to give M440i/M340i owners an airbox that looks uninspiring, flows adequately but not ideally, and emits no noise. The exact opposite of what the platform exudes otherwise. The Dinan carbon fiber intake for the platform rights these wrongs and delivers a semi-open intake capable of flowing 58% more air than the stock system resulting in additional top-end power and increased throttle response. At the same time revealing a more aggressive, sporty carbon fiber appearance, and an increase in sound courtesy of the removal of the intake resonator and implementation of a semi-open design. In order to achieve the gains in flow that set the Dinan intake system apart, the entire lower box of the system, and not just the lid, has been reworked and enlarged in an effort to make use of as much of the available real estate as possible within the engine bay. In turn, this allows a 40% larger, custom, free-flowing filter to be housed within and maximum flow to be realized. However, a secondary inlet has always been desired by Dinan in order to effectively fill the volume of the enlarged airbox and increased filter surface area. This desire led to a multitude of experiments being conducted on the effectiveness of a possible open-air inlet in the system. With different shapes, locations, and sizes of openings being tested, the goal was to ensure that the added secondary inlet did not cause any unwarranted side effects such as an increase in air temps in the system. This is commonplace with open-air intake systems where overheated engine bay air is employed in the intake tract. The results of these tests showed that the patterned openings present in the final iteration of the box located on the opposite side from the engine provided a perfect balance of additional volume to assist the factory inlet all the while not causing an increase in turbo inlet temperatures. This was the case regardless of testing conditions (single/multiple gear pulls, constant speed, 0-100mph runs, etc.). With more air being pulled into the system, throttle response is improved and additional power is realized in the form of max gains of +9 WHP / +8 ft-lbs of torque. The secondary air inlets also allow the intake system to be more audible so the turbo spool and BOV can be appreciated. A stark difference from Dinan's traditional fully sealed systems where induction noise is not nearly as recognizable. Not to be outdone by the increased power and sound, the outwardly visible system is made of immaculate carbon fiber so the under the hood appeal is vastly improved over its drab and utilitarian beginnings. Have you reached out and pled with your favorite manufacturer to produce solutions to bigger-bodied platforms so you too can enjoy added performance and sound? Have you thought all of it was in vain and your requests were ignored? That is not the case. Dinan has heard your inquiries and is pleased to offer an intake for the B58-powered 'G' chassis cars of the 5/6/7/8 and X series. Like its smaller bodied 'G' chassis siblings, the Dinan carbon fiber intake for the bigger B58 vehicles utilizes a semi-open design that incorporates multiple auditory ports on a revised lid, so induction sounds of the turbo are more evident. Beyond the additional sound openings employed in the new design, the immense resonator assembly used in the stock setup to reduce unwanted turbo sounds is also eliminated with the Dinan system. Together, these elements allow the engine to nearly achieve its full sound potential but when paired with the optional turbo inlet (and fit kit) the full intake tract to the turbo is effectively replaced for further audio enhancement. While sound is undoubtedly important for a large swath of consumers, performance enhancements are equally as important to others. Common to all Dinan intake design, improvements upon the factory design by increasing flow via a larger airbox and filter element were made. These standard adjustments improv throttle response (and acceleration) and lessen the strain on the turbocharger for maximum efficiency. While box and filter enlargement and redesign are major factors in ultimately producing a more potent intake, they are not the only variables in creating a more efficient design either. The resonator assembly that limited auditory enjoyment also created a more turbulent airflow path by introducing alternative stunted pathways. The Dinan carbon fiber intake tube eliminates these flow disruptions with a smoother, direct flow path for maximum potential efficiency and an overall 20% greater flow when compared to stock. With these flow and efficiency improvements also comes greater power, particularly off the line, culminating in maximum gains of +7 WHP & +12 lb-ft at 2500 RPM on a completely stock vehicle. Built to elicit a more pronounced sound, provide improved performance with appreciable power gains, and imbue the engine bay with some carbon class -- the Dinan B58 carbon fiber intake for the 'G' chassis 5/6/7/8/X series is a modification must for any enthusiast looking to have it all. NOTE: For B58 'G' chassis 5/6/7/8/X owners that wish to run the Dinan Turbo Inlet (D760-0061) for maximum sound, the appropriate Dinan Intake (D760-0068) as well as the associated Inlet Fit Kit (D763-0100) are REQUIRED. With the most potent BMW inline-6 to date, the S58, the newest iteration of the M3 has set itself apart from its predecessors; given the option for AWD, a model first, the M3 breaks boundaries long maintained by the quintessential brand icon. Being the signature chassis Dinan modifies, development on the G8x needed to similarly raise the bar and distinguish itself from the pack; a difficult task but one we relished the opportunity to embark upon. After months of comprehensive design and validation, that journey has come to its conclusion for the first of those ambitious aspirations - the Dinan G8x Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake. Equal parts function, sound, and beauty, the intake not only looks and sounds the part of something special but performs the part as well. With a 12% increase in airflow to the engine without any negative effects on inlet temperatures or pressure, the Dinan G8x system delivers on all fronts. Drawing in more unimpeded air for consumption yields more efficient turbos (less work to make the same power) with the capacity for greater power potential on modified builds. Central to the design and our obsessive-compulsive need for a symmetrical engine bay is a singular plenum that replaces the separated driver and passenger intake ducting on the stock setup. The combination of the two tracks into one enlarged and distinctive shared pathway allows 50% more volume to be achieved in this tight space in addition to simplifying the installation and improving the overall look. The center plenum gives way to enlarged airboxes that house 11% larger cotton air filters delivering superb filtration while maximizing flow. Feeding the filters are the factory grill inlets as well as additional cutouts on the top of each airbox lid. The semi-open design was analyzed extensively to ensure that these additional inlets had no ill effect on temperatures or flow. However, the secondary airbox passages do allow an avenue for the induction soundtrack to escape the confines of its former plastic prison for everyone's benefit. Whether under hard acceleration, deceleration, or just spooling the amplified sounds are sure to make an impression. Beyond improvements to flow and sound, the appearance of the Dinan G8x M2/M3/M4 intake system is unrivaled. One need not do more than take a casual glance to know that care was taken with the system to blend in naturally with the factory engine bay while sufficiently augmenting it to a tier above. Playing off the hard angular edges that are present throughout, the Dinan intake system carefully takes these queues and carries them throughout for a true OEM+ look and feel. A 2x2 twill carbon fiber weave is used throughout and available in either gloss or matte - a first for Dinan, further setting the intake apart from those that came before. In the quest to be all things to all people at an attractive price point the 430i/330i has been reduced to a mundane, albeit pragmatic, core with elements devoid of any character both outwardly and inwardly. For example, in stock trim, the 430i/330i comes with a utilitarian and lifeless air box swaddled by seemingly unfinished braces and housing a basic panel filter that is also accompanied by an intake resonator whose job it is to eliminate turbo/intake noises. The same noises that those in the performance world relish. Essentially, BMW has seen fit to give 430i/330i owners an air box that looks uninspiring, flows adequately but not ideally, and emits no noise. The Dinan carbon fiber intake for the platform rights these wrongs and delivers a semi-open intake capable of flowing 58% more air than the stock system resulting in improved throttle response and the elimination of a potential roadblock when opting to pursue a high-powered build (upgraded turbo, fueling, etc). At the same time the Dinan kit unveils a more aggressive, sporty carbon fiber appearance, and an increase in sound courtesy of the removal of the intake resonator and implementation of the semi-open design. In order to accomplish the feat in flow that sets the Dinan intake system apart the entire lower box of the system, and not just the lid, has been reworked and enlarged in an effort to make use of as much of the available real estate as possible within the engine bay. In turn, this allows a 40% larger, custom, free flowing filter to be housed within and maximum flow to be realized. However, a secondary inlet has always been desired by Dinan in order to effectively fill the volume of the enlarged air box and increased filter surface area. This desire led to a multitude of experiments being conducted on the effectiveness of a possible open-air inlet in the system. With different shapes, locations, and sizes of openings being tested, the goal was to ensure that the added secondary inlet did not cause any unwarranted side effects such as an increase in air temps in the system. This is commonplace with open-air intake systems where overheated engine bay air is employed in the intake tract. The results of these tests showed that the patterned openings present in the final iteration of the box on the opposite side from the engine provided a perfect balance of additional volume to assist the factory snorkel all the while not causing an increase in turbo inlet temperatures. This was the case regardless of testing conditions (single/multiple gear pulls, constant speed, 0-100mph runs, etc.). While the additional flow does not translate to any noteworthy rise in power output for stock or basic bolt-on equipped vehicles, the Dinan intake system does expand the potential of the platforms power ceiling. Put simply, those striving to build a more potent and robust solution, complete with turbo and fueling upgrades, will be allowed to maximize the results without worry about the intake system being a limiting factor. Like its predecessor, the Dinan carbon fiber intake for the MINI/BMW transverse B46/B48 engines is tantamount to an exercise in efficiency. Given a confined space with limited options and an even smaller budget; create an intake that provides power, sound, and throttle response in an aesthetically pleasing package. While not the easiest of things to accomplish, we embarked upon the task with our team of engineers determined to provide a solution. Through a bevy of flow bench testing, it was quickly determined that the biggest hindrance to improved flow on the stock intake was the factory snorkel. Unfortunately, the snorkel was also the piece that would cause the largest increase in cost to a potential kit. As a result, it was quickly abandoned as a potential area of improvement. Instead, attention was turned to finding a way to introduce a secondary inlet for additional airflow. With limited room to work with, traditional secondary ducting was not possible. This, in turn, led to multiple experiments being conducted on the effectiveness of a possible open-air inlet on the upper lid. With different shapes, locations, and sizes of openings being tested, the goal was to ensure that the added secondary inlet did not cause any unwarranted side effects such as an increase in air temps in the system. This is commonplace with open-air intake systems where lots of overheated engine bay air is utilized in the intake tract. The results of these tests showed that a 12 square-inch opening for additional air on the opposite side of the upper lid from the engine provided a perfect balance of additional volume to assist the factory snorkel all the while not causing an increase in turbo inlet temperatures. This was the case regardless of testing conditions (single/multiple gear pulls, constant speed, 0-100mph runs, etc.). With more air being pulled into the system, throttle response is improved, and additional power is realized in the form of maximum gains of +12 WHP / +23 ft-lbs of torque in the low/mid-range. The secondary air inlet also allows the intake system to be more audible so the turbo spool and BOV can be appreciated. A stark difference from Dinan's traditional fully sealed systems where induction noise is not nearly as recognizable. Not to be outdone by the increased power and sound, the system is made of immaculate carbon fiber, so it looks the role as well. The result of an optimized lid, an improved filter, and thorough testing, yields an incredibly efficient and cost-effective solution that you will be hard-pressed to beat. Both the Toyota GR Supra as well as the BMW Z4 are their respective brands' answer to the modern 2-seater sports coupe delivering enhanced driving enjoyment in a compact and stylish frame. With aggressive organic lines used unabashedly throughout, they are unapologetic in their outward style to the point of nearing brashness. This character is limited to driving dynamics and external appearance, however, with both the sound and under-hood visuals not matching the colorful outer demeanor. The factory air box in particular is an uninspired design, albeit functional, and leaves substantial room for improvement in terms of flow and resulting power gains. It also purposefully includes an intake resonator whose sole purpose is the elimination of turbo/intake noises - the same noises that those in the performance world relish. The Dinan carbon fiber intake for the platform rights these wrongs and delivers an intake capable of flowing 58% more air than the stock system resulting in improved throttle response, additional power and the elimination of a potential roadblock when opting to pursue a high-powered build (upgraded turbo, fueling, etc). At the same time revealing a more aggressive, sporty carbon fiber appearance, and an increase in sound courtesy of the removal of the intake resonator and implementation of a semi-open design. To achieve the gains in flow that the Dinan intake delivers, the entire lower box of the system, and not just the lid, has been reworked and enlarged in an effort to make use of as much of the available real estate as possible within the engine bay. In turn, this allows a 40% larger, custom, free-flowing filter to be housed within and maximum flow to be realized. However, a secondary inlet has always been desired by Dinan to effectively fill the volume of the enlarged air box and increase the filter surface area. This desire led to a multitude of experiments being conducted on the effectiveness of a possible open-air inlet in the system. With different shapes, locations, and sizes of openings being tested, the goal was to ensure that the added secondary inlet did not cause any unwarranted side effects such as an increase in air temps in the system. This is commonplace with open-air intake systems where overheated engine bay air is employed in the intake tract. The results of these tests showed that the patterned openings present in the final iteration of the box located on the opposite side from the engine provided a perfect balance of additional volume to assist the factory inlet all the while not causing an increase in turbo inlet temperatures. This was the case regardless of testing conditions (single/multiple gear pulls, constant speed, 0-100mph runs, etc.). With more air being pulled into the system, throttle response is improved, and additional power is realized in the form of max gains of +13 WHP / +14 lb-ft of torque on an otherwise completely stock vehicle. Beyond stock or basic bolt-on equipped vehicles, the Dinan intake would expand the potential of the platform's power ceiling. Put simply, those striving to build a more potent and robust solution, complete with turbo and fueling upgrades, will be allowed to maximize the results without worry of the intake system being a limiting factor. Regardless of the level of the build, the secondary air inlets, as well as the sound slot present on the lid, allow the intake system to be more audible so the turbo spool and BOV can be appreciated. A stark difference from Dinan's traditional fully sealed systems where induction noise is not nearly as recognizable. Not to be outdone by the increased power and sound, the outwardly visible system is made of immaculate 2x2 gloss twill carbon fiber resulting in vastly improved under hood appeal. Dinan's Cold Air Intake system for the F06/F13 M6 adds two additional intake snorkels to complement the factory intake ducts to the airboxes (a total of 4 intake ducts feeding air into the engine). Dinan studied the aerodynamics and packaging of the front end to determine where additional intakes can take in air. New airbox covers incorporate carbon fiber air ducts that run to the top of the radiator support where it gets a ram-air effect from the front grilles. The new airbox cover and piping are designed with a composite material that blocks hot air. A K&N high flow air filter that has 77% more surface area than stock sits in the new airbox. Dinan has shown peak gains of 13hp and 9ft-lbs of torque from the intake alone but greater gains come at higher RPM where more airflow is required.

The M5 is the flagship of the marque and as such deserves to showcase the best possible components. The Dinan Carbon Fiber Cold Air intake for the latest generation of M5 holds true to that philosophy and offers arguably the best performing and most efficient sealed intake solution on the market. Quite possibly the most visually impressive as well. The first thing noticed upon gazing upon the engine bay equipped with the Dinan intake is the sheer amount of gloss UV coated 2x2 carbon fiber. Stretching from one end of the engine compartment to the other, courtesy of a fully functional secondary air inlet wishbone, the material is not only beautiful to look at but serves the purpose of heat deflection as well. The wishbone, which mimics the equally impressive calling card of the F8x M3/M4 engine compartment, is purposeful in a different way. Instead of adding structural integrity, the wishbone serves as the conduit for a secondary air source deriving its contents from a central hood scoop located behind the front grilles. The additional air flow supplements the factory inlet locations on both the left and right air boxes with ambient air from outside of the engine compartment. These air boxes have been enlarged and equipped with massive filters to handle this increased volume and together with the rest of the system allow the intake to flow as efficiently as possible. While the stock intake system is adequately suited to support up to stage 1 power levels, that does not mean there is no performance benefit when upgrading to the Dinan system.
