Turbo inlet pipes serve two very distinct, and differing, purposes. On one hand, the optimization of a turbo inlet pipe will encourage better turbo efficiency and responsiveness by allowing the turbo to ingest more air by way of an unobstructed and larger volume flow path. On the other, you have a more visceral benefit that some may argue is equally important than that of efficiency/flow optimization --- increased sound. No matter which of the distinct purposes is favored, Dinan will deliver on both. Regardless of application, a Dinan turbo inlet replaces the weak, and failure-prone, plastic factory inlet with a more robust carbon fiber one. CNC machined fittings are utilized to ensure proper fitment and guarantee installation as a direct replacement to the OEM inlet. Beyond material and fitment however are the improvements to the characteristics of the primary element in the system, the pipe itself. The stock turbo inlet has incorporated additional features (multiple in some cases) that introduce flow restrictions and turbulence while also reducing turbo noises. All of which are unwanted but easily rectified by removing the various resonators and enlarging (and optimizing) the path for a more uniform flow. The result is an inlet that delivers not only more air and allows the turbo to be more efficient (work less) but also provides the oft-desired amplification to the turbo induction soundtrack. Features: Increased turbo efficiency and reliability courtesy of maximum unimpeded and uniform airflow. Eliminates the factory sound resonator for increased turbo vocalization. 14% increase in overall volume over OEM inlet. Average of 7.7% larger internal diameter throughout (maximum cross-sectional area allowed). Carbon fiber construction for increased durability and visual appeal. Direct replacement of OEM turbo inlet. Quick and easy bolt-on installation. Ensure proper sealing when installing the turbos on your N54.

Kit includes:

16 - ASA M7x39 studs
16 - Flange nuts
All required gaskets and o-rings
Water pump install hardware
Replacement vacuum hose
T-bolt clamps

Helpful hints:

For complete installation instructions, refer to Haynes Service Manual (T#193950).

Both downpipes must be removed to remove either front or rear turbo. Tie rod end may need to be separated from knuckle for clearance. Steering rack may also need to be rotated away from subframe for access. Valve cover heat shield will need to loosened and pushed upward to get clearance for turbo manifold removal.

If studs back out of cylinder head and nuts are seized to studs, replace studs. Thread studs in to head by hand to prevent cross threading. When installing the new studs in the cylinder head, use a high temperature loctite in the cylinder head side, and copper anti-seize on the nut side.

To make more room for access to the front turbo, remove the rubber line running in front of the subframe that attaches to the back of the map thermostat and remove the clip. Cut off the OEM clamp and replace it with a new hose clamp as well.

Complete removal of the water pump is not required. Detach the water pump from the side of the block and push it out of the way to make more room for access to the front turbo. If water pump is unbolted from the block, the aluminum bolts must be replaced.

Torque specs:
Bracket to cylinder head: 9Nm
Coolant supply line to crankcase: 9Nm
Coolant return line to crankcase: 8Nm
Coolant return line to turbo: 8Nm
Coolant supply line to supply line: 8Nm
Exhaust manifold heat shield: 8Nm
Oil supply line to crankcase: 20Nm
Oil pressure line to turbo: 8Nm
Oil return line to crankcase: 8Nm
Oil return line to turbo: 8Nm
Turbo manifold to head: 20Nm

VTT is proud to offer their billet replacement for the factory plastic vacuum tanks that store vacuum from the pump and use it to regulate boost via the solenoids. The stock plastic can and small plastic nipples on the stock cans have a tendency to crank over time, and if they leak you will get low boost, or no boost, and poor performance. These cans do away with the weak plastic cans while adding some pop, and color to your engine bay. These vacuum cans retain ALL of the factory provisions including mounting points but come with 90-degree fittings for easier routing of the lines VTT's cans are made of 6061-T6 aluminum, and anodized in 4 colors for beauty, and long life. They also knurl the cans for a very distinct look in the engine bay! VTT is proud to offer their billet replacement for the factory plastic vacuum tanks that store vacuum from the pump and use it to regulate boost via the solenoids. The stock plastic can and small plastic nipples on the stock cans have a tendency to crank over time, and if they leak you will get low boost, or no boost, and poor performance. These cans do away with the weak plastic cans while adding some pop, and color to your engine bay. Turbo inlet pipes serve two very distinct, and differing, purposes. On one hand, the optimization of a turbo inlet pipe will encourage better turbo efficiency and responsiveness by allowing the turbo to ingest more air by way of an unobstructed and larger volume flow path. On the other, you have a more visceral benefit that some may argue is equally important than that of efficiency/flow optimization --- increased sound. No matter which of the distinct purposes is favored, Dinan will deliver on both. Regardless of application, a Dinan turbo inlet replaces the weak, and failure-prone, plastic factory inlet with a more robust carbon fiber one. CNC machined fittings are utilized to ensure proper fitment and guarantee installation as a direct replacement to the OEM inlet. Beyond material and fitment however are the improvements to the characteristics of the primary element in the system, the pipe itself. The stock turbo inlet has incorporated additional features (multiple in some cases) that introduce flow restrictions and turbulence while also reducing turbo noises. All of which are unwanted but easily rectified by removing the various resonators and enlarging (and optimizing) the path for a more uniform flow. The result is an inlet that delivers not only more air and allows the turbo to be more efficient (work less) but also provides the oft-desired amplification to the turbo induction soundtrack. Features: Increased turbo efficiency and reliability courtesy of maximum unimpeded and uniform airflow. Eliminates the factory sound resonator for increased turbo vocalization. More Flow: Up to 24% greater than stock. 24% increase in overall volume over OEM inlet. Average of 10.8% larger internal diameter throughout (maximum cross-sectional area allowed).
