This low-pressure fuel sensor is commonly a cause of an "Increased Emissions" warning on the idrive and for check engine (SES) lights on BMW's with the N54 6 cylinder turbo engine or the S65 V8 engine in the M3. It will also fit a limited number of cars with the N55 engine. This sensor can be traced to a number of drivability issues, including cold start running problems, misfires, stumbling, hesitations, and overall rough running. You will likely have a code for the misfires, rich condition, or for the sensor itself. In some cases, the combination of codes can bring about a limp mode. Replacing this sensor is an easy and inexpensive first step if you're having any of these issues. From 1974 to 2019, Bavarian Autosport was one of the premier vendors for BMW and MINI auto parts. As these cars get older we're seeing more issues with the stock components and more demand for cost-conscious fueling solutions. The new Fuel-It 650HP line of fuel system upgrades are designed with those needs in mind while maintaining a budget. They make the most of the stock components to maintain stock reliability and drive-ability but when the boost gets cranked up, the Fuel-it 650HP components kick in to support the additional fueling needs of your high horsepower car. With the Fuel-It 650HP lineup, you can upgrade your components all at one time or upgrade them as time and budget allows. If upgrading one component at a time, we'd recommend starting with the LPFP first as that is the heart of your fuel system, without a good Low Pressure Fuel pump (LPFP) you can't supply the fuel needed to any of your other components. Your secondary pump can NOT run full time, it must only be run under boost only. Running it full time will place additional strain on the stock system, will lead to high fuel temps, and pump or component failure. To turn the secondary pump on under boost we recommend running the included 4psi Hobb's switch. Port Injection to the fuel tank: If you are running our port injection kit, this upgrade replaces the stock fuel lines from the tank to the engine bay, integrates the ethanol sensor and then utilizes a Y adapter to supply the HPFP and PI with fuel. Our custom fittings remove those tee's and extra fittings for a cleaner high flow setup. Non-Fuel-It! port injection to fuel tank: Choose this option if you are running a port injection kit that we did not manufacture or sell. This kit includes a longer 18" feedline from the Y to the port injection rail. You then cut the feed line to the length you need and install the included -6an female fitting or -6an female elbow to make the connection to your port injection rail. *These kits are available for off-road use only *Ethanol Sensors don't actually read the ethanol content, the readings are based on the absence of gasoline, so if your fuel is contaminated your ethanol readings may be artificially elevated. *For the BMW N54 E-series JB4 platform connect the white wire to position #15 on the JB4 25 pin harness. Select WMI Ethanol Setup option 1 to enable pin location 15/16 flex fuel input. *For the BMW N55 E-series JB4 platform connect the white wire to position #16 on the JB4 25 pin harness. Select WMI Ethanol Setup option 1 to enable pin location 15/16 flex fuel input. *Ethanol Sensors don't actually read the ethanol content, the readings are based on the absence of gasoline, so if your fuel is contaminated your ethanol readings may be artificially elevated.
