OEM front control arm bushing (FCAB) as used on the E85/E86 Z4M.

The front control arm bushings are a key piece of the suspension. They are constantly in motion and take abuse from impacts, potholes, rough roads, and general cornering/wheel motions. To give a quiet and smooth ride, the bushings are made of compliant rubber. But the rubber can only withstand so much abuse before they become loose and spongy. This results in vibrations and possibly a shimmy when driving. A visual inspection will usually confirm that there is too much flex in the rubber or the rubber has cracked and torn. And if you're installing new control arms, always install new bushings to avoid duplicating labor costs.

These bushings come pre-pressed into their aluminum brackets. No need to press out old and press in new bushings! Just a simple swap! Sold Individually.

These are the stock replacement front control arm bushings (FCAB) for the E82 1M and E9X M3 models. These solid rubber bushings replace the inner bushing on the front upper control arm, also known as the thrust arm or tension stut (it's the arm with the outer ball joint pointing down). These are the OEM bushings with a metal sleeve insert for precise but comfortable steering feel and response. A direct replacement for the E90/E92/E93 M3 and E82 1M. Professional installation recommended since these bushings need to be 'compressed' while they are being pressed in.

This can also be used as an upgrade on non-M E82, E9X, and E89 Z4 models. The solid rubber of the M3 is a better and longer-lasting bushing than the fluid-filled stock E90 bushing. These M3 bushings are a bit stiffer than the original design so the steering and handling will be sharper while maintaining M3-levels of ride comfort.

Sold per bushing (order 2 for both sides).

Control arm bushing brackets do not typically wear or fatigue. But we sell replacement brackets as a convenience to go with new bushings (press one bushing instead of pressing out the old). For racers it's a great idea to keep a spare set of bushings with brackets on hand since pressing bushings at a racetrack is not ideal. Keep a spare set to avoid hassle and downtime.

For someone looking for superior performance and longevity these sealed monoball bushings are the best upper thrust bearing you can buy for an E82 1-series or E9X 3-series. The advantage of a monoball bearing is that it will not deflect under load. All of the rubber bushings move in all sorts of directions and that changes your alignment, especially when used with big brake kits or when driven hard. The condition worsens as the bushing wears out. The Dinan monoball sits in a CNC machined aluminum housing which has zero deflection. The monoball allows complete freedom of movement but only at the desired angles. What you get is superior steering precision, better handling from more consistent alignment, and almost infinite bushing life. These heavy duty rubber bushings are stiffer than the stock bushings to improve steering feel and improve handling. For someone looking for superior performance and longevity these sealed monoball bushings are the best upper thrust bearing you can buy for an F22 2-series or F3X 3/4-series. The advantage of a monoball bearing is that it will not deflect under load. All of the rubber bushings move in all sorts of directions and that changes your alignment, especially when used with big brake kits or when driven hard. The condition worsens as the bushing wears out. The Dinan monoball sits in a CNC machined aluminum housing which has zero deflection. The monoball allows complete freedom of movement but only at the desired angles. What you get is superior steering precision, better handling from more consistent alignment, and almost infinite bushing life. And thanks to the inner liner and sealed rubber boots there's none of the extra noise or reduced service life of fully solid race bushings.

We strongly advise using these with new control arms. BMW recommends that the bushings be replaced only once per set of control arms. So if your thrust arm bushings have been replaced already then we do not recommend re-using the arms. The other reason is that the aluminum arms stretch over time which will make the bushings loose inside the arm. Other manufacturers recommend filling the stretched arms with paste but replacing the control arm is the better solution.

Anytime that you replace your front control arms (which should be often), you must replace your control arm bushings. The reason is because it's hard to tell if you're bushings are really bad and they are often destroyed when removed. These bushings have the hole off-center to give your car a little more track, caster, and camber. They are a solid rubber bushing that is great for the street. These came as standard equipment on E30 M3s (8/89-later) and 1995 E36 M3s.

For convenience, we carry the steel bushing carrier brackets (part# TSU9995PB3) with new hardware which will save you downtime caused by pressing out the old bushings and pressing in the new bushings.

This upper front control arm (also known as a thrust arm or tension strut) is a direct replacement for the original part and is the OEM Lemforder brand.

Control arms, and their integrated ball joints, are some of the most crucial components on a BMW suspension. The control arms literally control the wheel and suspension as they go through their range of motions. A faulty or worn control arm or ball joint is a very dangerous and potentially life-threatening problem so make sure they are inspected and replaced at regular intervals. For a street-driven car we advise yearly inspection and a full replacement every 3-4 years. For track-driven cars these should be inspected before every event and replaced every two years.

The E38 upper control arms include both the inner and outer bushing.

For all 2001 to 2005 325xi and 330xi. For convenience, we have assembled this bushing carrier bracket kit, to save you time when changing our control arm bushings. It includes two bushing carriers (one left, one right) and mounting bolts. Having a spare set means you can get your new bushings pre-installed and ready to go on the car (perhaps even as a race/track spare?) without having to remove your current brackets and take them to the shop to press out of the old bushing and press the new ones in.
