BMWs turbocharged S55 engine uses a water-to-air charge air cooling system, with a front-mounted heat exchanger responsible for heat dissipation. Unfortunately, the factory single-row, 27mm core design is quick to heat soak under high load, leading to excessive intake air temperatures and potential limp mode conditions especially on modified or track-driven cars.
To solve this issue, we've developed a drop-in upgrade over the factory unit. Engineered for durability and maximum cooling efficiency, this heat exchanger is a must-have for high-horsepower street builds, spirited canyon driving, and extended track sessions. Built from TIG-welded 5052 aluminum, our design eliminates the factory plastic end tanks one of the systems most common failure points.
